Very good advice, thank you. I have definitely heard to stay away from Werner dollar accounts and hazmat as a rookie driver. And I will follow that advice.

Shouldn't be too hard to get in with a semi dump or belly dump outfit, since you at least have dump truck experience... o_O

If I were running a belly dump outfit, I'd gladly hire some ex-Guard driver who had dump truck experience...

Especially some clean-cut hand who can pass a drug screen... beats the usual tweekin' crackerheads, lol. ;)

Don't avoid hazmat jobs. Most of that stuff isn't anything to worry about. Those companies hire drivers right out of cdl school. Gasoline is dangerous, but most other stuff isn't. Follow the rules & regulations for hauling hazmat and you'll have a lucrative career.

Haha I hear you. I have looked into some dump truck jobs but a lot don’t have the greatest benefits/retirement. And although driving a dump truck is not bad, something about driving a big rig and a trailer behind I love doing.

Yeah, I liked the big rigs with 53' wagons... once you had a handle on 'em, they were fun to drive.

I did food service starting out instead of going over the road. I'd say the average age where I worked was guys in their 40s and a few old timers in their 60s but they had the tit runs about to retire. If you have a lift gate and a pallet jack it's not that bad. We didn't have that luxury, just a 2 wheeler and a ramp Lol

    Chinatown and lual Thank this.

    :(:(
This was actually 1 of my top places I want to go but they stopped hiring in my area when I spoke to a recruiter about a week ago :(

I also very much appreciate all these jobs recommendations you are sending me. Some of these companies I have never heard of and will be reaching out to them.
