I think cameras will eventually be in all trucks, just changing of the times. It goes like like this with all things and old people always hate change

Cameras yes, but not driver facing cameras.

I heard a story about why Swift took the driver facing cameras out of our trucks.
A husband and wife team, doing what a husband and wife will do, and the footage found its way to the internet by way of the monitoring agent.

I'm not sure how true that story is, but we had driver facing cameras for less than a year, and then they were gone.
At one point we were told that we could cover the inward facing lens if we wanted to, before they were replaced.

Forward facing cameras are a great benefit to drivers.
I was hit by another truck just 2 days ago while parked at a truck stop, and the camera recorded the whole thing.
I'm at the shop right now getting it fixed.

Once the truck shook the camera system started sending an extended recording. It showed the truck hitting me and far enough into the future to see when the cop showed up to take the report of the hit and run, which was about 90 minutes later.
It showed the face of the driver, truck and trailer number as well.
All in 1 minute clips, so my DM had some extended time going through it all.

Without the camera footage it would be just me saying that someone hit my truck, when I might have bumped into something and just claimed it was not my fault.

I am a 67 year, old person, and I like this change.
(True, I did not like the driver facing camera. But in that year I was never dinged for anything and I stuck it out until they were gone.)

And again, the bottom line is...
If the company has driver facing cameras - don't hire on with them. They will soon get the message, either by no drivers or a huge lawsuit.

Yes sir. They don’t want you touching your phone. Not sure about GPS. Everyone here uses google maps or we already know where our customers are.

Mostly it depends on the company. Some companies have that Artificial intelligence crap that detects the slightest head movement.
Also they say they can only see you if there is an event which is total BS, they can see you at anytime. The footage gets uploaded to the cloud and only certain people can see it but the "certain" people could be the whole company.

I worked at the company before they had the AI and I didn't mind it at all, I was able to do anything I wanted and nobody ever bothered me. The moment they changed it to the AI system I quit the same week. You look down at your AC control and the camera says "distracted driving detected". You move your head down to take a quick look at what dropped on the floor and it flags that too.

If they have an AI system definitely don't work there.

The camera records all the time, it's not a time machine. They pic and choose what they want to. Any one who tells you it does not record all the time is a liar. Other wise it would miss an accident or incident.
