I am seriously considering going for AZ licence this year.

I recently come across Durham College which is certified by the MTO to administer road test themselves.

I have tried to search for other schools that do the same but cannot find any.

Anyone have experience with Durham College that worth sharing?

Anyone is aware of other schools that administer their own road test?

What are the chances of Durham graduates on getting employment?

Thanks in advance to those willing to share a thing or two.

Humber college also does their own road tests.

In terms of employment from what I've heard is Thompson terminals takes some of their graduates, although I don't think it really matters in terms of employment.

As a new driver you're kinda screwed because most companies don't care what driving school you went to. I've never been asked, although it can help you get a job with a big carrier.

Obviously, a lot of schools do. How else could the flip-flop brigade be getting their CDL?

I got mine out in AB years ago. They just sent the government examiner to the school once every week or 2 to administer the road test with the college's trucks.

we had 3-4 drive test employees fired when they were still Government owned not private owned like now up in my neck of the woods because they were taking bribes . It was in the local news paper and one of the women was actually married to one of our local cops

FFE in Dallas does their own testing. My tester talked me through the test with the occasional hint, cough, story. Nice guy.

What is the point of finding a school that adminsters their own test? The required skills/knowledge is the same whether someone from MTO does it at the school or you do it at a test center. It is not easier/harder depending where the test is adminstered.

My suggestion, pick a school that is closest to you and is an accredited TTSAO school. Or go to an accredited college like Durham or Humber.

In terms of employment, AZ is an AZ. You will get a job anywhere as drivers are always in demand. Getting that first job, you will probably have to go to a mega carrier and tough it out for the first 1-2 years but after that, it doesn't matter what school you go to. Any employer will ask you, do you have an AZ? Yes. Ok that is all. They don't give a crap where you went as most companies will train you on the job for the first month or so anyways. The better ones will even road test you before they hire you so the school you go to is irrelevant once you pass the MTO test.

If you think MTO road test is hard, then think again when you get the job, you have to back up a 53' sleeper from the busy street everyday. You need real skills to deal with all the challenges at work. The piece of license is a false sense of security.

We had a bunch of folks get their test in Ontario, then come to Manitoba. Manitoba wouldn’t honour their licence, had to retest here. All failed. Then they claimed racism. Lol.
