Talked with the fleet owner this afternoon, and for now it looks like I will be leaving home on Wednesday to head to IN.
I need to get a GPS and he suggested either Garmin or Tom Tom. I would appreciate any input/advice any of you have regarding which is better.
Also, any thoughts on something like Co-Pilot for my laptop? This is the only one I know of right off. I will be getting a current Atlas, but I didn't know if a program like this is a good idea.
I really do appreciate all your helpful hints and advice.

Garmin! Light years ahead of Tomtom.

For the laptop, Microsoft Streets & Trips. You can buy just the program, or you can get it with a GPS receiver. Works great, and a lot less than a stand alone GPS (and the bigger screen is easier on the eyes
).

try them all out, you can take it back........if its best Buy or other large chain store... if you print out a copy of a cheaper price, walk into to Best Buy, they will honor the lower price ...........However it needs to be amazon.com or walmart.com Big company's, they will not honor small website companies.
good luck, congradualtions -
I am leaving home about 5 a.m. Saturday morning and should be there by early evening. I'm really excited about getting there and getting started. These past couple days of sitting here waiting have been really difficult. I'm so anxious and the waiting is driving me insane.
Thank you, everybody, for all your helpful hints.

Congrats! I'm a little late so you may not see this but in the event you do my best advice is in a van take every run offer unless it involves something really rediculous. Your gonna do just fine! Be safe out there!

teddy_bear6506 Thanks this. -
Also make sure your GPS and Phone will work in Canada. I went up there last summer with a trainer who did not have a gps that worked in Canada! All I can say is UGHHH. I had to use my cell phone to call the office because she refused to use hers and pay the charges...so rather than be lost anymore I called them. LOL
teddy_bear6506 Thanks this.
