Yes that's correct, Fed Ex Freight itself is the largest publicly traded LTL carrier in the U.S. and the largest overall in the U.S., and Estes is the largest privately owned LTL carrier in the U.S. but not as big as Fed Ex Freight if that makes sense.

 

I’m thinking something is very very out of wack with the listings....According to Transport Topics Fed Wrex Freight Is the largest....but they’re listed as having more than 9million power units..,,almost double Estes whose #2
Double Yellow and OD at 3&4
More than 4x Bullfrog
Something seems off
Not saying they’re not the largest
But everything in my soul tells me 9million plus power unit would have to be across the Entire Fed Wrex brand

 

What are you talking about? FedEx Freight last reported 19k power units to the FMCSA Safer system.

 

There aren't even 9 million trucks in the entire country, let alone at one company.

Are you looking at revenue? FedEx Freight had $9 billion in revenue last year, while Old Dominion was a distant 2nd at $5.2 billion.

 

I think this is what olhand is referring to, its transport topics top 100 ltl carriers list, and not a very good one, pretty sure those are revenue numbers, but I dont understand why it says tractors lol.

 

My guess is bullfrog is ABF, some of the older generation drivers had nick names for different carriers, when I worked for Con Way western express aka CWX over 20 years ago some drivers would refer to us as circus waggon express on the CB, kind of like calling CF corn flakes ect ect.

 

That was the point I was making....but the 9 million isn’t revenue..,.their revenue was way higher than that over 1billion Fiscal ‘22
So it’s a wonderment as I like to say...but typically Transport Topics is a pretty accurate resource
