The sleep apnea racket will pull 90% of drivers off the road alone. EVERYONE will need a cpap to hold a cdl.

If you can't fix or make a contribution to the immediate issue, find another one.

So we’re not only dumbing down the job to get more idiots on the payroll, but we’re punishing the good drivers for the stupidity of others.

    Great idea.

And people wonder why I’m a technophobe. Nothing good ever comes from it.

Come take a look how well it works up here (it doesn't) and it is limited to 65, road speed limit 62 or 68 for some stretches (only recently) cars go about 70-75 (comfortable speed for the road) without the cops batting an eye. You gotta be over about 80 before they notice you.

Except something as simple as coming to see how such a law actually works wouldn't require some billion dollar multi-year study to determine the outcome it's paid to determine. So we can't have that.

At what point will we realize it's actually safer/more productive to let people use their brains? I am sick of everything being regulated to the lowest common denominator. Sometime this too will eventually be the rule, after that there will be a new target requiring yet even more regulations. I was momentarily hopeful something would come of the study showing ELD's did not actually reduce crashes, but I'm not holding my breath. An ex-DOT cop working as a shipping manager at a place in NC I believe it was had an interesting line, he said, "this country is fixing to regulate itself right out of business."

A sick part of me would love to see a regulation for cpap sideline 90% of us overnight, merely for the chaos that would quickly ensue. The motoring public might see how the government is keeping us safe. Won't ever happen, a storm rolls through and all the rules get suspended so costco won't run out of toilet paper.

My cousin sent this turtle race to me today from his POV. He didn't say exactly where he was at the time, but I was on I-45 in Texas about that time and it was definitely nice being able to get up to 78mph when I was passing the convoys of governed mega trucks.

The least amount of time I can spend in the hammer lane to complete a pass the better as far as I'm concerned.

If every truck is limited to 60mph, the picture above will become even more common than it is now. Except there'll be a mile of pissed off cars stacked up behind them.

I wonder if the truck makers will equip them from the factory with a cpap machine in the dash. Like maybe part of the hvac system. That way a driver can just plug in the mask and wear it like a fighter pilot during his 60 mph turtle race dog fight.

Of coarse the ones from Peterbilt need to be made out of genuine Saskatchewan seal skin bindings and 48 karat gold.

Yeah and market that 48 karat as "double purity" only available from peterbilt.

I could live with 65 mph. The problem as the rule is for everyone regardless of skill level. Safe drivers should be able to run a little faster, as long as they are accident free. Reward drivers who are safe.
