Aside from the places that won't enforce it, it sure is nice to be sure of a parking space at the end of the day.
There is one place I know of that went over the top.
A Petro in WI.
They went to paid parking for the whole lot, and have reserved parking on top of that. So nearly 40 bucks for the night if you reserve.
I haven't been by there for several months, but it had been pretty empty last time I went by.
Why pay for reserved parking when truck stops will let anybody park there for free!?!

When theres no free spaces, where are you supposed to park if you need to go inside for whatever reason?
-
They might park and go in to pay, but there are no spaces left so they just stay there because they have planned poorly and are out of hours.
Hoping for the best, until the person that actually paid for the spot shows up.
Or, as goinhome feels, they are entitled to park anytime and anywhere they choose.
There have been times when I have reserved a spot and not parked in the reserved parking.
(The timing changes so I don't stop there, or there is a better parking spot than in the reserved...)
That left a spot open for whoever wanted it, if the place wasn't watching too closely. A 'hoping for the best' type situation.
I can understand them grabbing the space to park, but they should not gripe when they are kicked out of it. -
At the fuel island...Kenworth6969 and bzinger Thank this.

If you just need to go inside then you can park in the fuel island for a few minutes.
This isn't about a short break.
If you need to park for a longer period (like more than 10-15 minutes), then you should plan your trip better.bzinger Thanks this. -
I dont feel for sorry for them one bit .
I rent my house and I'm not sharing it either .ncmickey Thanks this. -
I have encountered that as well. The attendant said that a driver pulled a knife on one of the workers so they simply don't knock on doors anymore. Can you blame them?
I used to go to Phoenix regularly and that truck stop ran drivers off so those who paid had a spot. But that truck stop had armed security.PaulMinternational and Woodys Thank this. -
I go to the hospital, have $560k worth of medical care, I have to pay for parking.ncmickey Thanks this.

It must be close to Milwaukee.

Many truck stops have become dumping ground and drop lots so I don't mind some paid parking especially near big cities.bzinger Thanks this.
