I don't miss that mess at all, I hate to say it but I'd rather keep hauling cheaper materials than ever go back to hauling scrap like that, really has no business in an aluminum trailer, but we've all been there.
to all end dump haulers...

Exactly! When my dispatcher put it on me he immediately called and said “I know it’s not ideal and we tend to stay away from stuff like this, but that’s why we set a minimum and gouged em on the price” so every once in a while it’s not bad. I just can’t help to wonder why at any price it’d be worth it. It’s so hard on equipment. You can let that stuff out as slow and easy as you want but once it starts there’s no stopping it or controlling what’s gonna happen and it comes crashing out with a vengeance. You been keeping up with SX? We got Peacock now so I been catching up on the last few races.

That happened right near me, port of albany, big "green energy site" development. Place is massive, was all woods and swamp land and they cleared the entire thing. Very surprised this didn't happen sooner, they've been rushing everyone because theyre bringing in over a million tons of product, but you have to know when to tell the foreman to screw off. If there isn't room to dump out of reach of another truck/trailer, then ya have to wait. Not worth the risk. The guy in the 379 that got crushed was luckily out of the truck checking his load came out, would have probably been dead otherwise. Atleast now they have an example to give the foreman when he wants to rush guys.motocross25 and Born2win Thank this.

Every time I'm asked to dump next to someone I explain that it's not a good idea. And never do it. Most times they are ok with it.. if they say well everyone else is doing it. I lose all respect for that person and know he an amateur... when another truck pulls next to me I'll pull up . Same goes for unlevel dumping.
Rugerfan and motocross25 Thank this. -
I have a friend who does new york city dump work. He says he teamster local
282. He says he makes 150k+ with amazing retirement and health benefits. Got me thinking. Do you guys think it's worth moving out there for that? Anyone know about this?Rugerfan Thanks this. -
The consideration for me would be cost of living, 150K might not be much if real estate is 400K and above, not sure on numbers but throwing that out there for thought.
PBEtrucking and Born2win Thank this. -
@motocross25 definitely been keeping up with SX, it’s been the best season that I can remember in a while.

What's going on with everyone lately? About the same down here, lots of traffic these past few weeks with spring break, and now easter, staying busy none the less. Typically this time of year we start to see fertilizer firing up, but so far that's been non existent, one of our main suppliers which is actually a water treatment plant (bio solids) has been down since around November for some major updates, so hopefully before long they'll be ready to go again and get us running. @motocross25 how's the abbreviated OTR lifestyle treating you? I often think about spending some time out again but things have changed so much down here, I'm not sure if it's everywhere, but the truck stops are overcrowded, it seems the associates inside are miserable with what they do, and it shows in their lack of customer service, simply put, for me at least, it's not like it used to be out there when I was out all week.
Anyway, hopefully everyone enjoys the holiday weekend, stay safe. -
Got different truck this week. Have hauled a couple loads of fertilizer. It's not really breaking loose quite yet. Boss thinks things are gonna slow down some for a bit. Gonna take the slow up to work any bugs out of the truck that just got a used motor put in it. I've been staying fairly busy tho an the money has still been good. Some of the rates seem a little down but then again that high dollar stuff we were doing for a bit kinda spoiled me just a little. Lol
