Now I really want to go fishing. Fisherman tell big tales.
Am I the one who was ready to quit? Must be. I’m always ready to quit. I’ve been told I don’t know when to quit. I must not want to, since I don’t. This Business owes me nothing. Not much invested. What I invested was years ago. Paid 21k for my Truck with a finframe. It needed some neglected maintenance done. Ran it while fixing minor things. Paid $11k for my Trailer in 2017. It’s been good so far. Gets the job done just as good as your $3000 per mo. Peterbilt. I like Peterbilt, prefer KW’s. I also like Corvettes Harleys, and boats. I don’t need them. I also don’t want the responsibility of owning a house over 1600 sf anymore. Rather have a smaller one, especially if it’s paid for. I always laugh at the question on loan apps. Do you Own your own home or rent? Doesn’t matter if there’s any equity or not, with or without a mortgage. Most proudly enjoy mentioning the home that they bought. The question is more to evaluate responsibility levels. The fact is nothing with a loan on it is owned. It’s rented till paid in full.
Brokers offer transparency. Imagine that!

Unfortunately, the weather in Chicago area is cold and drury today. I can only wish I were in a sunny part of the country.
But this paid for truck and trailer of mine and consistency of driving it in good and bad times, which unfortunately is a nessecary evil to some degree, facilitates my flexibility of not having to be stuck on the road and also not being distressed of not finding better fish for a week or two.Rideandrepair Thanks this. -

For starters, the talk about greed ought to be understood not literally but with a dose of satire serving the threads playfulness. I would not expect anyone with a little bit of oil in their brains to take my references to greed in a religious sense in the aspect of transportation buiseness, seriously.
But, I guess I overestimated my skills of communication.Siinman and Rideandrepair Thank this. -

On the other hand, I take it back what I
said earlier. I was darn serous about the broker's greed, in this example, because like I said, owners operator are immune to greed. The are vested with their life, health, money while brokers...well, suffice to say, they don't buy fuel.
You are not much different from a company driver, dependent on someone else bringing work for you on consistent basis. You don't have a full recognition of good times vs slow times and how greed fits in the scheme at all, do you?
I don't blame you but perhaps you try to offer too much wisdom from a position of a person that has no exposure to what we deal with...we the warriors of the spot market
