102 whip

    I have a 102 whip. Can you cut those like in half . I have 1 and didn’t know if you could trim it down to like 5 ft -and use it.??? Thanks

    Nope...You "can" cut it in half tho, and stick the top part down inside a coiled antenna and use it as a stinger...I have a 55 antenna and a Fatboy R6 antenna that uses cut down 102's for stingers...

    Monkey Made "Big John" on the left... a "55" on the right. both about 6.5' to 7' tall.

    I’ve always been of the mindset that simpler is better. I’ll take 1 antenna over 2. That much less coax, less places for moisture to invade, less troubleshooting when things do go wrong.

    Yes you can. But you need to add something to the bottom to compensate for what you removed up top. What you add to the bottom won't be proportional to what you remove from the top and you might need to add four times at the bottom what you subtracted from the top.
