I won't wait till the last minute in exchange for a better rate and risk of ending up empty handed.
I don't book an outbound without securing another leg or a back haul.
Not in times like these.
Brokers offer transparency. Imagine that!

I think you are hurting yourself by that strategy. It works well in good times. But in times like these is when you need to keep your powder dry and wait until they are in a bind. Especially outbound. But that’s just my opinion.Oxbow, Rideandrepair and Siinman Thank this.

No, I see all the details on the app. Pick up 1 at 10:30, pick up 2 at 18:30. And the receiver is ALDI. No, thanks.Rideandrepair, Jubal Early Times and TallJoe Thank this.

Joe, you’re arguing against exactly what you’re doing. Can’t have it both ways. Like Deregulation, it’s a double edge sword. Everyone wanted in. Now it’s possible. The results are what we now have. The alternative was no chance at ever getting in. Everything was fixed. No, or very little Competition. Back then it was 38% Unionized. The highest % of any Industry in the Country. Once you were 25 yrs old, hopefully you could get one of the 38% of the good jobs available. It was a propped up system filled with corruption and beyond its original intentions. The original intention was to protect consumers from price gouging. Same as Utilities. Through the transition, rates fell. It wasn’t a bunch of Foreigners doing the bidding either. It was mostly Good old (American born) Boys. Lol. It is what it is. We play a very small role, doing the best we can in the current environment. None of Us created the Monster, and none of Us will change it. It’s been made. If not for deregulation none of Us would even be in Business.Brettj3876, Oxbow, Siinman and 3 others Thank this.

Aldi is actually not that bad for a grocery place. The ones I have been to have always been quick unloads. Google reviews look pretty good on that one in Hinckley. That load looks like easy money to me I'd press for a few more dollars on it though. It already pays a #### sight better than the easy 1&1's everyone always wants, and it's only 2 picks.
Oxbow, Rideandrepair, Siinman and 1 other person Thank this. -
. I’ve never pulled a convoy load. Can you actually talk to a person and negotiate or is it all just automated?Oxbow, Rideandrepair and Siinman Thank this.

There’s a series of books called The Trucking Pioneers. Lots and lots of short stories about carriers that are long gone. It’s interesting reading those stories about how carriers would buy other carriers to get their operating authority and expand into different areas of the country. Then many of them folded after deregulation because they had spent so much money buying companies and everything they had done was now worthless.Oxbow, Rideandrepair, Siinman and 1 other person Thank this.
