I do have my Tech ticket, had it since 2007 and haven't had the time to study for General or Extra.

I remember you talking about your light bulb antenna a while ago. And doing it on voice is even more wild. Now that I have my own place after the ex and I broke up, I hope to get a station up soon. It’s an apartment with a 100% tin roof. No, obviously none of it’s bonded together, but I’ve had good luck with tin roofs and ham sticks in the past. Something for me to monkey with.

    Time?

It is an easy step up to general, you can study anywhere and any time.

I have a blast with it, and like my underground antenna, I have had good luck with both.

I have a new antenna that they put up for me today, a tri-cross loop, it is pretty cool and the builder claims it can handle more than 1kw. It is based on a cross-loop antenna, which the one I had was highly directional. I made contacts all over the earth on 80 and 40.

I have a driver who built a home out of a pole barn and it has a tin roof on it. He bonded the roof section for the GP mounted a scorpion screwdriver onto the edge, it was directional but worked well for him.

I’ve never done it, and I’d like to try, but I’ve heard 2m SSB can be pretty crazy too. Is it that SSB is a little more efficient than FM and when ducting is on, it’s just that much better?

I'm planning on building a full 2 meter wavelength antenna out of copper pipe to see how well it will work. I haven't heard or seen anyone else do it. I have a 1/2 wave J-Pole I made but haven't connected it yet. I used my NanoVNA to set SWR on it. I also plan to build a 5/8 wave CB Base antenna out of 1 inch Type K copper pipe as well.

Nope, I don't conform to Commiefornia standards and never intend to.

So, it is a picture of a 10 meter HAM Radio. What's is your point?

IMG_5041.jpeg Current radio. Gonna do the switch. Just another toy to add to the truck. Just showing off my toys, that’s my point.
