You misunderstood . I'm saying Skyview will pick a driver to treat well in return for him coming here and saying how well he is treated . We have those from a couple of other carriers .

    Unless I missed something...

You said you worked 8 weeks without any pay at all? What all were you fronted when you started working? I wonder what stipulations were in the contract... "If leaving under a certain period of days, employee has a $500 fine for..." Stuff like that seems to happen a lot. If it was in the contract you signed, there's not much you can really do if the numbers add up (which I have no clue if they do, just saying).

You were lease-purchasing, right? The $600-$800 out of your own money was to fix your truck that you were lease-purchasing. You should have hired a certified mechanic to go up and down that thing telling you what would need to be replaced/repaired. You seem to be adding up some dollar amounts that are your responsibility. It'd be nice to hear the other side of the story, or at least see the paperwork... just too many question marks for me.

Whoa... I just reread your original post. Were you per mile pay or percentage pay?

I see where you're getting the $2800 now.

    1500 (truck payment)
    500 (plane ticket)
    600-800 (repairs)

Again, I may have forgot or missed a few things since I don't want to go through all seven pages and read them again... BUT

The truck payment, if you're no longer driving it, doesn't come back to you. It's like getting your car reposessed.

The plane ticket is yours to eat too. Didn't it take you out there?

The repairs should be self explanatory in a leasing program.

I see what you're saying though... you should have made more than $2800 in a 7-8 weeks, and I agree with you. What did your weekly statements read? Do they start with a negative balance for the truck payments, ticket, insurance (if so), etc. and then working gets you out of the hole? What kind of runs were you doing and how did you get paid on them? Was there a trailer fee, dispatch fee, escrow account deal??????

In my experience, I've seen two guys leasing a couple trucks from us. One guy got another guy to drive his truck because he wanted to work in the office and there was a position open. The guy tore out the clutch of his truck. His payments were $500 a week for what seemed to be a lifetime, but that was what was agreed upon between him and the owner. He was making $400 a week working in the office so obivously he wasn't able to make the truck payment unless he found another job. He didn't take out a loan to fix the clutch so after getting a month behind on payments, the owner fixed the truck himself and put it back on the road with one of his drivers.

Had another guy who leased-purchased here, doing very well. I think his payments were $700 a week. He hit someone in Florida and the bill to get it back here was $5000. Couldn't do it... so the owner took it back.

It's an honest, but viscious cycle with the lease-purchasing thing (maybe not honest in your case, jury is still out in my opinion). Many guys jump in without any funds to back them up. They think they can just "live" in the truck for a year and get it paid for and over with... one thing they don't think about is the repairs to the truck. Since you're buying a truck, just like buying anything else, after payments there aren't going to be much left afterwards. You hit a bump in the road and it causes your bags to explode (wouldn't that hurt?), you're screwed because after repairs you have nothing to take home.

Lease-purchasing now, again in my opinion, is a BAD move. There is not enough good paying freight out there. Also, I wouldn't do it for I wouldn't want to put myself in position to be taken advantage. You'll get offered all the east coast, toll runs... but you have to do it, there's a truck payment to be made.

Sorry. I got a little off topic for a second, but I wanted to share my experiences with everyone.

Maybe he's working? Maybe he doesn't care? Just because a guy does a drive by post on some random board then never comes back doesn't mean a thing.

It may have been a spur of the moment thing and he did it... then never thought of it again.

This may or may not be the case, but I'm not ready to call a man out because he doesn't hop on a trucking message board and reply thoroughly to someone's allegations about his company.

You said you didn't read all the posts . Did you see Skyview's SafeStat rating ? They obviously have no concern for HOS or compliance . They won't be around much longer .

I read them all. I said I can't remember all the details. I do remember that safety deal. I don't think that has much to do with Mike's situation.

Not directly but it has a lot to do why Koby doesn't care to invite any more discussion . He no doubt wishes he stayed out of it instead of reviving the thread .
