Well thankfully after Monday this round of covid has been mild compared to the death bed I rode 2 years ago. Or being home all week with a 5 year old has not allowed me time to be sick. Anyhow, covid did not get my appetite this time.

Vinyl was the primary. The collection is in the 100’s. Then a very short stint with the dreaded 8 track cartridge, quickly moving to the cassette. The transition to CD’s was slow. That collection is also in the 100’s.

Fine detail work looks nice and cuts down on breakdowns on the road, but d'amn does it take time. Ready for this job to be done. Be running the overhead shortly. Still waiting for the trans cooler and bracket to get here. This originally was water cooled, and i always do away with that.

Found a set of RT 40-145 4.11 might make an offer on them. They came off a Mack. Get rid of those 4.42 Mack rears, the 4.11s will be perfect with tall rubber. About 1375-1400 at 65 instead of 1650

Are those more efficient at lower RPM? Never drove one, matter of fact hardly ever worked on one. Always assumed they were like the older Detroits and Cummins, better off in the 1600 range.singlescrewshaker, Flint1, cke and 5 others Thank this.

They like1400 going down the road. They're a lower rpm motor, after 1800 it peters right out. At 1800 it's screaming Lol. Operating range says 1250-1800. I don't lug it down to 1250. The lowest I take it is 1350, maybe 1300 if I'm just about to top a hill. The E6, E7 are the only mechanicals that were a lower rpm motor. Not like the cats and big cams where you'd kill it running those rpms.
On a hill it will sit at 1400 and grunt and grunt. Kind of a dead spot between 1600-1400 but once it settles in at 1400 it will stay there for a while.
Also how they got their fuel economy is running lower rpmssinglescrewshaker, Flint1, cke and 6 others Thank this. -
The fully electronic E-tech with unit pump injectors likes a higher rpms. The 460 does anyways. They like 1500-1800, it's dead below 1500. They need a 13 or 18 or they're not fun to drive. But that's in the programming. The 410/1660 maxidyne is the program you want. I'd like to get the 99 flashed to that. Same torque as the 460 but a much better torque rise.
