It USED TO BE good, before WYTHEVILLE (Rt. 421) was mothballed.
Seems the nascar folk want to bring it back from the CEMETERY.
Considering how OLD is all the WOOD supporting the TRACK and the track itself, as it'll be DEATH if not completely REBUILT.
Wood lasts just so long, so SO LONG
.
Dale thompson and BennysPennys Thank this. -
Much more pleasant weeding weather the rest of the week

That there is the reason that AZ and areas south of I10 got yellowed out from my potential migration zones.
Can always put on a hoodie when it's cool. Tend to get arrested when the last of the clothes are shed.
Personal choice: I am more inclined to dealing with the truck stuck in the spring mud, than dealing with those temps.Cowboyrich, homeskillet, IH9300SBA and 6 others Thank this. -
I drove several trucks with that type shifter setup, 13 speeds. Back in the 70's and 80's. I really liked it , wish I could do something like that on the truck I'm driving now.Speedy356, IH9300SBA, austinmike and 3 others Thank this.

Aw Mate, It was FUN in Eloy, after departing PHX, then at Midnight with the Residual Heat at 90 and the truck running at 600 r's with A/C 4/4's on.
Et wer a leetil bit cooler arond 0600.
I-10 was a picnic since only 2 seasons: Winter and Summer.
I preferred HOT to COLD .

If you want to try and learn to weld without much outside help there is really only one option... Start with stick welding, its the most forgiving, inexpensive to get into, and most importantly it forces you to learn the basics.
Go find an old "buzz box" stick welder you can pick up cheap, maybe get someone that knows how to weld to try it out before you buy it to make sure it at least functions somewhat correctly. Alot of welding supply stores also repair welders... Sometimes they have older ones in the back they will sell pretty cheap, amd they always know what local welders that might have something they would be willing to sell. Get some junk steel and a box of 1/8 inch diameter 6010 welding rod. Set it for about 135 amps and then play around with it. Find a GOOD YouTube welder that does stick welding... Watch, listen, and try to mimic the movements he does with the rod. I will tell you the key to ANY good welding: puddle control. Dont watch the arc... You want to watch that molten liquid puddle and make it go where you want and do what you want.
Another thing... Dont go spend a bunch of money on an auto change welding hood. Just get the traditional flip down style with a "Gold Lens" probably in shade 9 or 10. With a gold lens you will be able to see the different colors of the heat and arc in full spectrum. The cheap "Green Lenses" that most inexpensive welding hood cone with filter out the red, blue, yellow, and most importantly the white... And leave everything you see tinted green and a little orange.
Lenses are a very easy and inexpensive upgrade that takes literally seconds to change out. Get an inexpensive hood and a gold lens that will fit it. Try both the green and then the gold, it's a night and day difference. After awhile you will start to learn what the different colors mean to your welding and you will be able to adjust what you are doing before the puddle falls out or runs away from you.Last edited: Apr 11, 2023

We had gotten a piece; think from FMC scrap ,here, that was 3/4 thick. Made us a table and hung a vice on one end. Reserved the long end area for smooth finish work, weld, beat, splatter on the opposite end. We sold out to a name brand dealer and they junked it with my 14 years collection (in bread pans) of bolts and fittings. We never got caught needing a fastener to finish up a job at 10 PM on Saturday.JoeyJunk, homeskillet, IH9300SBA and 7 others Thank this.
