@BloatedGoat --
Suggestion: Go back--and get that HAZMAT endorsement, as well....
This omission could well come back to bite you where it hurts the most, later (and may already have).
HAZMAT will make you more attractive to potential CDL carriers--and help you stand out more from other beginner applicants.
Given where the market is now--you really need that.
My hazmat endorsement helped me get additional loads, back at Schneider...that other drivers couldn't pull, just because I had the endorsement.
Many hazmat dry van loads really aren't dangerous. Easy examples: hair spray, charcoal, lighter fluid, bottled bourbon, etc. So what?
Those endorsements are door-openers--and money-makers!!!

You could be right. The driver recruiter at Swift told me that everything else was great but anything more than a 60 day gap in employment is a big problem for them. Who knows?
-
Maybe a big problem with Swift, but not with plenty of other companies.Stonehjl and BloatedGoat Thank this.

Between my latest gig (hauling fuel)...& the one before that (reefer duty)....I was out of work from April 1st--to June 20th (but the SAME year).
The bottom line (for you): carriers are (for the time being, anyway) generally getting pickier about who makes it to the next cut (but this is mainly true for those with little to no experience).
