Hello. I came across this site while searching for truckers who support animal welfare and a link to the pet page for this forum came up. I am trying to gain support for the freedom of a tiger named Tony who lives at a truck stop in Grosse Tete Louisiana. I hope to be able to post more information about Tony and ways to help him.

Hello and Welcome to the Site
Baack and Free Tony The Tiger Thank this. -
welcome, this is the first I've heard of this tiger!
Free Tony The Tiger Thanks this. -
Tony has lived at the truck stop for 9 years. Many people were trying to get him released from there and sent to a sanctuary. Unfortunately the Louisiana Dept. of Wildlife and Fisheries granted the final permit Tony's owner needed to keep him at the truck stop. There are webpages, blogs, and groups dedicated to helping Tony. Please feel free to contact me if you want more information.
FOR TONY,

Whats the difference if he lives at the Tiger Truck Stop or a cage somewhere else ?? I frequent that truck stop I've seen him and I'm convinced he's well cared for..
Do you even drive or are you just trolling ??puncher Thanks this. -
Trolling, I've also seen the tiger and he is perfectly fine! He is settled, and happy where he is. No pacing behavior, no sign of stress. I find it hilarious how they want him released to Big Cat Sanctuary which I've personally been too and is not that much better. He'd still be caged, forced to live with strange cats, and have to endure the stress of a long trip when he is just as happy where he is.
The changes requested to get the permit were plenty good enough to ensure Tony receives adequate care and space. The same or better then he would get elsewhere.
What gets me is how their website says its terrible for Tony to live near the trucks because of 'diesel fumes' and 'noise'. Hmm, seems to me these are the same people that think its okay to idle the truck when you have a pet otherwise just die useless human.
Sheesh.
Leave Tony alone! Leave the truckstop alone! -
I agree with groundpounder it's no differant than a zoo or a circus. I remember traveling years ago and a lot of tourist traps had animals of all kinds, bears, snakes, monkeys, tigers, wolves, etc. those memories are still dear to me years later. I love animals as much as anyone, but I detest anyone who has no idea about the care of an animal of any kind except their house cat or little poochy pup, which is nothing more than a good meal for a coyote. The do-gooders wiped-out the slaughter houses for horses and ruined the natural flow of things, can't even give a horse away now, I have to shoot them now and let the buzzards and coyotes eat, but I,m sure you and the humane society will make this a better place to live, yeah right.
