Greetings!!!
Currently sitting at the "J" in beautiful Waco, TX. Weather is great!!!! Last night was the first night since the first part of January that I did not have to run the APU all night!!! Great night with a mild low of 47F!!!! Can't believe the large number of drivers that run their APU or idle their trk engines in such mild weather???
The saga continues:
02.16.10: Has been snowing most of the night in Indianapolis, IN. Drove 30 miles to the customer in Fishers, IN with no problems. Live unload. Received next load assignment. Valapariso, IN to Albert Lea, MN. DH=161 LD=457. Also, received instructions to take MT trl over to customer in Lebanon, IN drop it and bobtail up to Valapariso. Run over to Lebanon, drop the trl, in and out in 20". Bobtail up to shipper in Valapariso and hook to the pre-loaded trl, in\out in 30". Get out of Chicago before rush hour and make it to S. Beloit, WI where I fuel and shut down for the evening.
Notified DM that I had to be back at the home terminal on 02.25.10 for a DDS appt on 02.26.10.
02.17.10: Wake up and the weather is beautiful. Hop up to customer in Albert Lea, MN with no problems. While enroute I receive my next two(2) load assignments. 1) Owatonna, MN to Prairie Du Chien, WI. DH=34 LD=156. 2) Prairie Du Chien, WI to Buda, TX. DH=0 LD=1166. Live unload # Albert Lea and I am in\out in 75". This next load isn't going to be ready until 0800 on 02.18.10 and, being that this shipper is only 21 miles from my place of residence, I hop over to the house for the evening. Have a nice prolonged hot shower, home cooked meal, and take care of the needs of "The Better Half" and experience a great nights sleep.
02.18.10: Arrive at the shipper at 0730hrs, simple drop\hook and am in\out in 30" Beautiful day for driving!!!! Make it down to Prairie Du Chien, WI with no problems. Drop one loaded trl and hook to another loaded trl. I really enjoy these types of customers!!! In\out in 30". Drive down to Eagleville, MO and shut down for the evening.
02.19.10: Had some snow flurries down to KC, KS. No major problems. There were several cars in the ditch but no big trucks. Drive down to Ardmore, OK where I fuel and shut down for the evening. While enroute I receive my next load assignment. Arlington, TX to Minneapolis, MN. DH=216 LD=999. Delivers on 02.24.10., so I will be able to make my DDS appt.
02.20.10: Beautiful day for driving!!!! Drive down to cust in Buda, Tx. Simple drop\hook. In\out in 30". Hop up to the "J" in Waco, TX. I don't pick up this load up in Arlington, TX until Mon AM so will enjoy this great Texas weather here in Waco.
02.21.10: Beautiful Texas weather. Slept late with no alarm clock waking me up. The weather is so mild no need to run APU. Nice!!!!

Greetings!!!
! am in MN where the weather is beautiful. Two days in a row where the temp reached 38F!!!! Snow melting and water running in the streets!!! Spring must be right around the corner.
The Saga continues:
02.22.10: Beautiful day in Texas. Ran up to Arlington from Waco. Nice shipper!!! In\out in 60". Light load of only 18K. Great day for driving. Made it to Homewood, KS and shut down for the night. Had to use the APU during the night for the first time in several nights.
02.23.10: Woke up and found that it had dropped a small amount of freezing rain or sleet during the night. The roads were in good shape. The frozen rain was hanging on the trees and shrubs and, with the bright early morning sunshine, it was very pretty. Should have taken some pictures. Ran up to Kearney, MO and fueled # the Pilot. Drove up to the Minnesota\Iowa border. Stopped at the casino, ate at BK and won $22.00!! Have early morning(0600hrs) delivery in Mpls tomorrow.
02.24.10: Woke up to a beautful morning. Easy drive up to Mpls. Arrived near the location of the receiver and discovered that the bridge to their site was closed because it was being replaced. Went around the block and found a side street near their location. Turned on the CB and received directions from their security staff and drove the short distance to their location. Nice people. Tight squeeze for backing into the dock. However, was quickly unloaded and was out in less than 90". Left and drove the 23 miles over to our home terminal, fueled, and talked to shop foreman regarding a blown fuse and a defective windshield wiper.
Have a DDS appt on 02.26.10. Will be some oral surgery, so will spend Sat\Sun to recover.
Bay and Bay is very good regarding the providing of the necessary home time for medical\dental issues as well as family issues.
Has been a good month for me. Had a total of 7546 miles. That is with being out only 19 of the 28 days of February and, had two 34 hr restarts in those 19 days.
Freight volume is good with plenty of loads available.
Take care and be safe!!!!
JustSonny, tiresONtar and _ton bundle Thank this. -
Thanks for the update! Hope all goes well and you recover quickly.

03.03.10: First thing in the morning, receiving personnel come and get the BOL and I drop the loaded trl in an open door and hook to an MT trl.
Next load assignment is from Triadelphia, WV to Buda, TX. DH=56 LD=1384. Hop down to Triadelphia with no problems. Simple drop\hook. In and\out in <30". Nice day for driving. Make it to Franklin, KY. Nice hot shower and all "you can eat" soup & salad bar.

03.06.10: Some rain and fog in Kansas and Missouri. No problems. made it to Kearney, MO which happens to be the birthplace of Jesse James!!! Nice hot shower and salad.
03.07.10: Fog and light rain in northern MO and all of IA. Made it to the customer with no problems. First time here. Nice people. Live unload. In\out in 45"!!!! Over to the terminal. Fuel the tractor and drop the MT trl. Only have 6.25 hrs left so I'll do my 34 hr restart # home. I really like it when it works out that you can do your 34 hr restart at your home terminal. Nice long hot showers, home cooked meals, and two nights of sleeping in your own bed!!! Doesn't get any better than that!!!
It was a very good week!!! From Monday # noon to Sunday # 1500hrs had a total of 3647 miles. Shouldn't be a problem in getting 12,000+ miles this month. Plenty of freight!!!
Take care and be safe!!!!
_ton bundle, JustSonny and Lonesome Thank this. -
Greetings!!!
03.09.10: After doing my 34 hr restart # home terminal I am ready to go. Receive a load that picks up in Faribault, MN going to Galesburg, IL. DH=42 LD=367. Arrive at the shipper, very nice people(aren't all people in MN nice?), live load of 45K of beans. In\out in 60". Make it down to Galesburgs with no problems. Simple drop\hook. While enroute received my next load assignment. Hook to MT trl and take to new customer in Rossville, IL. DH=219. After that, to bobtail up to Montgomery, IL to pickup a preloaded trl going to Greenfield, MN. DH=156 LD=427.
Make it to Gainesville, IL for the night.
03.10.10: Beautiful morning for driving. Hop up to Rossville. First time here. Very nice\friendly staff in shipping\receiving. Even offered a cup of coffee to a truck driver!!! Drop the MT trl in their VERY MUDDY lot. They are very strict about the trls that are used to ship their product. No odors, signs of water\dampness on floor or walls, no holes or nails in floor, and doors must make a good seal. Take off to next shipper.
Arrive at shipper in Montogomery, IL. Preloaded trl. In\out in 30". Nice!!! Great day for driving. Make it to Black River Falls, WI and shut down # the "J". This TS must rank as one of the top "Js" in the country. The food is great, showers are great, and the staff are so nice!!! If you ever have an opportunity to stop at this "J", I highly recommend it.
03.11.10: Arrive at cust # 0730hrs. Appt was # 1100hrs. They are happy to unload me immediately!!! Great people. Receive a message that my trk is due for its mandatory annual DOT inspection. Also, I am within 1K of my scheduled "B" PM service. So I go to terminal and turn my trk over to the shop. Will take a couple of days off to take care of some personal business # home.
03.14.10: Received next load assignment. Pickup a preloaded trl in Horicon, WI to Rockhill, SC. DH=293 LD-922. Seems they have an over-supply of our trls # this shipper so I'm to bobtail down to shipper. Arrive at shipper. In\out in 45". Make it to St. Paul, IN for the night.
03.15.10: Make it to Rockhill, SC. Deliver in AM. At "J". Great salad bar!!! Nice hot shower and watch a couple hours of TV.
03.16.10: At cust # 0700hrs. Live unload. In\out in 90". Next load assignment is received. Shelby, NC to Columbus, OH. DH=62 LD=498. Hop up to Shelby, NC. Drop\hook. In\out in 30". Make it to Jackson, OH.
03.17.10: Make it to the cust in Columbus, OH. Three trks in front of me. In\out in 2.25hrs. Next load assignment is Groveport,OH to three stops # Mpls, MN, St. Louis Park, MN and Burnsville, MN. DH=17 LD=813. Appt for the shipper is # 1800 hrs. Out # 2230 hrs!!!! Time frame is very tight to make the first delivery appt # 0630 on 03.19.10. So I did my 10 hr break # this shipper and drove all night and stopped at Mauston, WI.
NOTE: During this time while eating a nice crisp apple I had a large filling pop out of a tooth!!! OUCH!!! Immediate pain and sensitivity to temperatures!!! Sure sign a nerve is exposed. Called my dentist and he will see me first thing Monday AM.
03.18.10: Take another 10 hr break and drive to 1st stop where they have overnight parking.
03.19.10: Ist stop in Mpls. Only 09 pallets. In\out in 45". Going to next stop, I discover that there is a major road construction project underway. Had to do a detour through some residential areas in order to get to this customer. Finally made it with no problems. Only 05 pallets. In\out in 30". Make it to 3rd stop easily with no problems or traffic. 12 pallets and am in\out in one hour.
Take trk to terminal. While doing pre-trip inspection this AM found the head of a rather large nail or spike sticking out of one of the driver tires!!! Wasn't loseing any air. I let the shop know and they will check it out.
Had a rather unremarkable March 17th, "St. Patrick's Day" while on the road. No "Green Beer", no "Corn Beef and Cabbage" and no special "Irish Potatoes". Not a happy Irishman was I!!!!!
Will be going to DDS on Monday. Will see what has to be done???
Take care and be safe out there!!!!!!!!!

HIBERNIA RULES!!!!Drive-a-Mack, _ton bundle and JustSonny Thank this. -
Arrived back # the home terminal on Friday 03.19.20. Scheduled to see my DDS on Monday. In alot of discomfort. Pain scale of 7\10. Alot of Ibuprofen and Tylenol.
Go to DDS on Monday. He takes x-rays and injects some xylocaine. Refers me to an Oral Surgeon to be seen on Weds.
Go to Oral Surgeon on Weds and he extracts two teeth. Good procedure with no complications. Soft foods and warm saline rinses for two days. Vicoden works great!!!!
Bay and Bay has been very supportive during this period. No pressure to return to work before I'm ready.
Feeling pretty good Friday afternoon so I call my dispatcher. He calls me back in an hour with a load assignment.

You've been spending some time in my neck of the woods. Does Bay and Bay have that much freight headed way down south in Dixie?
-
Yes, we do.
We have numerous customers down there that we take windows, paper, food products(non reefer), etc......
JustSonny Thanks this. -
Greetings All!!!
Beautiful sunny day in Ohio!!!
04.07.10: After spending the night in Lake Station, IN wake up to pouring rain. Leave early for my first stop in Van Wert, OH. By the time I get there the rain has stopped. Very nice people. In\out in 45". Go 68 miles to next stop in Findlay, OH. Again, in\out <45". Call the customer at the 3rd stop and find that their receiving department closes # 1600 hrs!!! My ETA to their location is 1620 hrs!!!! They tell me to show up # 0730 hrs next morning. Find a rest=stop 4.5 miles from this receiver and shut down for the night. day=436 miles with two stops.
04.08.10: Show up at the 3rd receiver # 0732 hrs. Very nice and friendly people. Unloaded in <30".
With these types of loads the products are braced with blocks of wood. 8 blocks per product and six products per load for a total of 48 blocks of wood that are secured by large nails per block for a total of 96 nails. All of these have to be removed and the trailer slept for the next customer. Very time consuming and back-braking work!!!! Sweating like a hot pig inside a hot trailer!!!! Took me >90" to complete this task. Yes, we get xtra pay for this however, I really don't enjoy it very much!!!!!
While performing this rather unpleasant task I receive my next load assigment. Coshocton, OH to Cedar Rapids, IA. DH=79 LD=653.
I hop up to this shippper in Coshocton and I am in and out in 90". Shipper very specific about the trailers that they load their product into!!! I'm glad I did such a great job sweeping it out earlier in the day.
It is 43.7K lbs of rolled paper. No scale. It is one of those shippers that require you to slide your tandems all the way back before backing into their docks. So, after being loaded, I slide my tandems to a point where I think they should be. NOTE: If the product is over 42K and is not past the forty-eight foot mark in my trailer, I have discovered a simple way to ensure that I am legal. On the left(driver's) side of the trailer, I walk off 9.5 steps, (heel to toe) from the rear of the trailer towards the front. Once I reach the 9.5 mark, I attach a large red bag clip to the side of the trailer. I then slide my tandems to the point directly in the middle of my trailer tandems or wheels.
I made it to the first T/S scale I came to(71 miles!!!) I was right on!!! No problems with the weights!
Shortly after leaving this shipper, I receive my next load assignment.
Janesville, WI to (1) Georgetown, OH (2) Portsmouth, OH (3) Wurtland, KY. DH=229 LD=538
I make it to Danville, IL for a nice hot shower and great salad bar!!!
Day-491 miles.
04.09.10: Beautiful day for driving!!! Stop for fuel in Bloomington, IL. WOW!!! Fuel has shot up .26 CPG in the last five days!!!!
Make it to the receiver. In\out in 90". Take out for my next shipper. Don't have to be their until the next AM. Drive over to Duqueque, IA where there is small casino. Shut down for the night. Loose $80.00 # the casino!!!! Drats!!!
Day=402 miles
04.10.10: At shipper in Janesville, WI. Simple drop\hook. In\out <30". Drive down to Lebanon, IN. Just in time to watch the third round of the Masters. Nice hot shower and meal. NOTE: Had to return the chicken back to the kitchen because it was not fully cooked!!! Cooked chicken is NOT suppose to be red and have bright red blood oozing out from the tissue near the bones!!! Eating undercooked semi-raw chicken is not healthy and can lead to some nasty and unpleasant gastrointestinal problems and symptoms!!!! This was # the "J" so beware and check your chicken if eating there!!!!
Day=400 miles
04.11.10: Another glorious day for driving in "America's Heartland". My first stop is not until 0900 hrs in the AM. I am # a rest area on I-74. Will hop over in AM. Will enjoy watching the Masters on TV all afternoon!!!
Day=168 miles.
Good week!!! 2916 miles with multiple stops and extra pay!!!
All have a great day!!! be safe!!!
tiresONtar, JustSonny, cjakes and 1 other person Thank this. -
Greetings!!!!
04.12.10: Made my first stop in Gerogetown, OH with no problems. In\out in <45". Beautiful day with sunshine and warm weather. Hop the short distance to second stop in Portsmouth, OH. Aren't those small two-lane roads through southern Ohio nice. So many hills and curves!!! A small town every five miles with a "speed zone" of 25 MPH through town!!! This place has a mailing address of Portsmouth, OH but it is 08 miles from the city limits and there are three small communities between them!!! Go figure? Very nice people there!!! Now, they don't have a loading dock or unloading ramp so, they use a tractor and hook chains to the metal racks in the trailer and pull out these racks the length of the trailer. Some bottoms of the racks have some sharp edges and really do a job on the trl floor!!! However, no problems and out in <60". Run over to third stop in Wurtland, KY. Get there with no problems. Guess what!!! Same set up with the chains and tractor!!! LOL Very nice people. No problems. Out in 60". Received my next load assignment. Marysville, OH to Menomonie, WI. DH=142 LD=690. Doesn't PU until tomorrow PM. Find a TS for the night and shut down. Watch a movie and have a big salad!!!
04.13.10: Beautiful day in northern KY. Didn't bother setting the alarm. Slept until the sun woke me up. Took #23 up to Columbus then #33 up to Marysville. Appt wasn't until 5:00pm but I arrived # 2:00pm and was given a door assignment immediately. So happy!!! However, I didn't feel the trl shaking until 4:30pm!!!!! Finally got out of there # 6:45pm!!! UGH!!! Took off and had to fuel # the TA om Wapakoneta, OH on #33. No parking spaces available!!! Kept driving west on #33 and found a Wal-Mart about 20 miles south of Ft. Wayne. Went into the deli and got a mega salad. Nice quiet lot!!! Slept with no noises or interruptions much unlike a TS!!!!
04.14.10: Beautiful crisp morning in IN. Take off and time it so I don't have to mess with rush hour in Chi-Town!!! Arrive # receiver in Menomonie and it is a simple drop and hook. Now, I am only 71 miles from our home terminal and 106 miles from home.
Have to wait until AM and pickup a pre-loaded trl and bring it over to the terminal. Then I am taking the next 3-4 days off.
It has been a good run!!!
From Sat, 03-27-10 to Thurs, 04-15-10 it will be 8471 miles, plus extra pay for extra stops and pulling blocks\nails from trl floor.
Plenty of freight!!! Should be no problems getting 12,000+ miles this month.
Take care and be safe!!!!
_ton bundle, tiresONtar, JustSonny and 1 other person Thank this.
