If we’re pinching for pennies on fuel mileage, we’d better be exact. Otherwise what is the point of the exercise? But continue…
2/10ths swing one way or another IS worth noting. On the same truck and driver, that can indicate a possible engine issue. Same truck but multiple drivers shows some know better than others when it comes to operating. It’s enough to notice so it is enough to pay attention to.
I’m not. The market is though. Take a stroll through TruckPaper on late model 579s and 389s with under 400k miles. Let us know what you find.
300k is just as simple as 600k. 600k tilts fuel savings in your favor, 300k tilts resale in mine. That’s the honest answer to both.
I’m making in resale what I would be saving at the pump on my cycle. Cry about it. Seethe.
I want to see an analytical breakdown on these numbers before hunches. My maintenance program is going to stay the same, over-maintained. PM/oil/filters change every 15k. New steers every year/100k. My Bridgestone 726ELA drives still have over half tread at 200k right now on my 2022. I am working the engine harder though. I’m going faster than most other trucks. Very seldom am I being passed on a daily basis. Keeping the engine loaded up keeps the emissions system hotter and more effective at it’s job. For the 7-8 years now that we’ve had emissions trucks, we’ve never had emissions issues. Odd.
Yeah my numbers don’t lie. They’re pretty good too
Oxbow and Jubal Early Times Thank this. -
I’m just sharing my way of how I do that here.Oxbow and Jubal Early Times Thank this.

Do these guys only run on the interstate?
All of the average mph seems way high.D.Tibbitt, Oxbow and Jubal Early Times Thank this. -
I’m not certain of who all runs what. One of those, for sure, runs a lot of 2-lane, many times with 20+ stops. He’s the same guy who posted a segment running 85mph, out west. But, that response was originally to a poster doubting the speeds these guys run. They rock and roll.Siinman Thanks this.

All of the examples you posted, the average mph was 63 or better .
I'm not seeing how they can do that running 2 lanes and alot of stops.D.Tibbitt and Jubal Early Times Thank this. -
All I can say is to join the group, read the posts, watch the videos, and decipher for yourself. I CANNOT explain, recite, and compile every single post from there, over here.

Not a lot of idle time is the reason why. As soon as you idle that truck it thinks it is still driving and slows down your time.
-
Just fix it in photoshop, put a red oval on the front.Siinman Thanks this.

That is what I averaged all last year with my aero Pete, pulling 80k gross on my lowboy.. 5.5 mpg average on ifta every quarter.. Guess I will see what this square hood averages this year pulling the same loads . Doubt it's going to be much worse or much better.Last edited: Apr 17, 2023
