Hi my husband and I just bought a semi truck and trailer. He has gotten his own authority and we want to know what all numbers have to go on the side of the truck. We know the USDOT and the MC KYU and his name and base city. But what else should we put? If anyone can tell us it will help. Thank You![]()

If you run CO, you need the last 8 of your VIN number
Wishing you lots of luck,

icc#, dot# and vin#, but the only thing required is the DOT number. Vin# only really needs to be on the right side, but thats up to you. I believe theres some other nonsense for hauling tobacco and alcohol in texas, quebec has some number if you run there. I used to run all over, but forgot some of the obscure stuff. Georgia has a light sticker if you run oversize for example. Think they got rid of that stupid nyhut sticker?

You don't need the KYU number on your vehicle. I just looked it up, but maybe you want to put it anyways? They can look it up under your DOT number if you run Kentucky. Like I said, all that is required is the DOT number but a lot of companies cover their bases by putting all the extra ones. Colorado wil make you stop every time when you dont display a vin, but theres nothing illegal about not having it.
FriedTater Thanks this. -
Dont forget your stickers, NY = HUT, Fuel stickers and so on.
By the way. Congrats on your purchase. Sounds like his dream is comming to fruition. -
It is a law you must display your vin # (last 8) if you run co. Ny dnolonger has a hut sticker.
FriedTater Thanks this. -
Thanks to everyone for answering it was really helpful

name, dot# and ifta decal ......thats it
-
you also ahve to have the unit number on there.
112racing and FriedTater Thank this. -
The last two posts are correct. Colorado has no law you have to put a vin number. I think it explains pretty clearly here:http://www.colorado.gov/cs/Satellite/Revenue-MV/RMV/1200535984164 I would strongly advise putting it on there to avoid hastles. Maybe you have a show truck and you dont want all this excess lettering though?
jdjordan2810 Thanks this.
