Power Invertor Setup ?

I'm guessing the inverter must go direct to the battery because of its size ?? If so goto a car stereo store they will have the correct size cables for the job....or what some people have done is buy a set heavy duty jumper cables and cut the ends off and crimp the proper connectors on for your battery lugs..

 

I bought 4 gauge battery cables from advance auto. They will have the connectors as well. You will need to solder the connectors on the cables. They also sell the cables in Pilot's, etc, runs about $40 regardless. You'll also need to drill holes in your truck to route the cables thru and some grommets or silicon. Keep the cable length to 4ft or less

 

Some guys use welding leads they are a little more flexable.

 

If you need to keep your current company from finding out I would go the modified jumper cable route for sure.....just cut the clamps off one end only that way you can just run them out the window to the battery then just unclamp from the battery when your done...not sure what connectors you would need for the inverter end of the cable though without seeing the inverter..

 

Radio shack and most truck stops have power cords that you can get with a 12 volt cigarrette plug on one end and wires on the other end.


!!!BUT!!!

4 guage wire will pull some serious amps! you will fry your trucks wiring on 4 guage wires!

 

You wont have to worry about the batteries. 1500 watts is = to about 12 amps, each battery is good for at least 100 amps, 3 batteries, thats 300 amps available. Alternator delivers about 100 - 150 amps. So use the battery cables leave the clamps on one end. That way you can disconnect it when going in to your yard or shop
