30 over will get you a Class E Misdemeanor in Maine for Reckless Driving. Add construction zone & ya might get a free ride to someplace that wasn't your destination.

Somebody else in Maine on here...nice!

There's no excuse for this. It's not like it takes that long to get through a construction zone, no matter how fast you're driving.

mjd4277 and The Green Mountain Thank this.

Old Orchard. Did a year of OTR reefer with Prime and came off the road last month to deal with family issues. Really wanting to get back on the road.

    pfftt...only a $500 fine

i'd like to see all fines multiplied by at least 10.

    $500.00 x's 10 = $5,000

hit them where it hurts, and put the silver bracelets on'em, charge them with "driving to endanger", make that a felony charge, and impound the equipment, then of course get fired.

30 over is a really bad day for anyone...

I get that the below reference is for two convictions, but, given that we're supposed to be trained and act professional in the road, I would think the courts would see it as so.
Hope he's got a really good lawyer... He gonna need them in a bad way.

If a CDL holder was convicted of one “excessive speeding” (15 or more miles over the speed limit) violation in a CMV and the same violation in his/her personal vehicle, would the driver be disqualified?
    FMCSA-CDL-383.51-Gen-Q01 km.docx (23.68 KB)
§383.51 – Disqualifications of Drivers – General Questions

    Guidance Q&A
    Question 1:

    a. If a CDL holder was convicted of one “excessive speeding” (15 or more miles over the speed limit) violation in a CMV and the same violation in his/her personal vehicle, would the driver be disqualified? Or,

    b. If a CDL holder was convicted of two separate “excessive speeding” (15 or more miles over the speed limit) violations in his/her personal passenger vehicle, would the driver be disqualified?

Guidance: Yes, in both cases, if the second offense was within 3 years of the first. Whether the vehicle is a CMV is irrelevant.

until the courts drop the hammer, instead of listening to the defense and exchange the charges for say a tail light, this crap will continue. it'll only be a matter of time the Feds come down on speed limiters for ALL trucks, company AND o/o....

i can't wait to see that happen.

The driver said he was trying to slow down but there were 4 speed limit signs and a construction warning about a mile before Trooper Wright clocked him

He could not slow down in a mile?
