Soft airbrake knob?

While your situation is understandable, it is hard to push because of the air pressure. They do make bigger buttons, but I am not sure that with help you with your problem. 4 state trucks, Iowa 80, Rainey's, and Great American chrome shop are a few that have numerous styles of parking break knobs.

 

There is this product that helps set the brakes.

Well I'll be darned. Pretty simple, but I had no idea that this was a problem for folks.

 

Looks like this is something that could be pretty simple to make if you need it. If is the big word.

 

Depends on your build/amount of meat on your hands/arms a lot.

I have large hands, but im slim, so theyre boney, the shock on pulling the trailer or truck valves is quite unpleasant. Larger buttons makes it easier to press, not much aleviates hand shock on pulling them out (that contraption probably would do the trick)

 

Is it company policy to set the brakes at every pickup/drop, or is it a legal requirement?

I could see that hand and forearm being sore from setting brakes running a bus that goes down a rural road that has 30 stops 100 ft apart because every kid has to be dropped at their front door nowadays for sure.

 

Depends on school division. Here in alberta brakes have to be set when loading/unloading.
Buses doing multiple school runs can have 40+ stops.

 

Same here. The bus that runs the route down my road usually takes 10 minutes to cover the mile.
