There's always a few jumping the line that way. It used to bug me but, well I don't believe in Karma, but more than once I've seen the same truck that jumped the line pulled off at the scale just east of Sarnia.

I've only been in there once. I've seen it open many times but usually they are full and the lights are off. It's usually later in the day, usually between 7 and 10 pm, when I go by.

I see this post keeps on going.
Just to let people know what has happened to the fine.
I called the court house to enquire the amount of the fine and what can be done since my birthday was inputted incorrectly.
1) They will not bring the amount of the fine down. I'm a professional driver and they take speeding and log book violations very seriously.
2) Wrong birthdays are irrelevant, the DL# is correct and that's what they go by.
So since I dont like arguing I paid the fine of $295.
Now more information to the original post.
The Police officer knew that I was not over the legal driving time, I still had 15min left on both 11 and 14 hr rule. He knew this by the time stamped on my fuel receipt. I was very polite to the young and did not argue with him or give him a hard time about anything. He did call for another officer; they both went through my receipts and log book. After an hour he came back with 2 fines; speeding and log book violation. He stated that according to the fuel receipts I still had about 15 min left before I was over on my hours. However the log book shows that I was over and that since he has to go by what is entered in the log book he was issuing me my fines.
It's been over a year since I received my fine. Today I'm running my own equipment and drivers. Every driver that I hire I explain to them always co-operate with the law, never argue with them and it's always "yes sir, no sir, yes mam, no mam". However as the time goes on I'm starting to realize that some of the people enforcing the law have some serious issues.
My problem is that;
1) When my equipment brakes down it costs me money.
2) When my driver makes a mistake it costs me money.
3) When a shipper makes a mistake it costs me money.
4) When a receiver makes a mistake it costs me money.
5) When a mechanic makes a mistake it costs me money.
6) When higher authority makes a mistake it costs me money, well no more. From now on I will fight every ticket issued by any one, period.
Just for an example; one of my drivers got pulled over at Windsor on 401. They could find nothing wrong with the equipment, so they charged the driver for not filling out the log book correctly. They also charged the company for not having a license plate on back of the tractor, even though it was mounted back of the cab. My driver drove 4 hours and got pulled near Ajax on the 401 for inspection. No fines. That same truck and driver got pulled over the next day on the 401 coming into Ontario from Quebec, no fines. Next day I took my drivers log book to an inspection station here at Vineland on the QEW. They inspected my drivers log book and explained to me they can't find anything wrong. When I showed them the ticket a couple enforcement officers told me that they would never give me a fine for that.
Another driver with a spotless record that has been driving for well over 40 years got pulled into the Vineland scales. They gave him a fine for $350 and the company for the same amount. Reason being that the driver did not hand in his log book. However the driver went on holidays for a week. During this time my wife got his log book and photocopied the sheets. According to the MTO officer my driver had a bad attitude and because of this the fine was issued. My driver tells a different story, he stated that the MTO officer nicked picked at everything and all he could find is that he had too many on duty sheets on his possession. As the driver was leaving the MTO Officer stated that he did not care who pays the fine however one fine will be paid the other will be dropped. To drop the company fine I have to take time off my work and go to court. Thank you Mr. MTO for wasting my time.
My rule still stands, always be nice to everyone. Having said that no more putting up with BS from any enforcement agency. I had it! Majority of us are honest and hard workers. I will fight you in the courts for any fine issued to my drivers and company period I don't care if we are in the right or wrong. Waste my time and I will do the same.Dave 1960 and otherhalftw Thank this. -

And, do not forget to check your contents for probable copywrite violation; because you can not get good ranking for your page on different search engines, if it contains any sort of plagiarism. You can check them with AAfter Search. You need to paste your document in the search box as follows *** and click the web search button. The search engine gives the result in the form of percentage of similarity between the original document and re-written document so that one comes to know about possible copyright violation, if any.

...and if something falls out and clobbers you...or even if a car clips you as you are walking next to my truck, don't look to me for assistance either. You've got that radio right there handy on your shoulder...use it to call someone who cares.
Your job is to enforce the law. I get that. My job is to haul freight. I'm not paid to assist you in doing your job, and if you get hurt while harassing me, it is not any of my concern...you made the choice to take a certain action knowing the risks involved. I'm not going to put my own safety in jeopardy just to prevent you from taking that risk.
You want the trailer door open, open it your own ###### self. -
I have no problem with being inspected or following rules but some LEO's just get carried away as for this I say ,,, truckers stock up the food at home and lets park these trucks for about 2 months and see if we get any better respect from everybody.

A long time ago, I heard this story--and no wat to prove it nowadats, but I'll tell it..
Driver got pulled in for inspection. The Bol said he was hauling some kind of plastic or whatnot. Anyways, the load was like ping pong balls. They had just free-loaded the trailer like they do at some potato places, so the trailer was completely full of this stuff.
Anyways, the dot man wanted to inspect the load because they coudn"t understand why the trailer was so light. So, the driver tells them he isn't opening the doors, and they signed for seals before they cut the seals. When they opened the doors, the whole load came out the doors into the parking lot. I was told they had to pay for that load. I laughed when I heard that story.
Truth is, I don't know if it's true. But the imagery makes me laugh.
All the DOT people I have met have been fair and courteous to me, except for in one state. I usually try to run up to snuff, but once in awhile I had to do what I had to do..
Oh well, if nothing else, might add some humor.
