Right. The DOJ can’t prove it. So watching a movie about it can’t prove it. Therefore none of us can prove it. That’s my point. It’s all speculation. Facts have to be proven. I cannot deny facts because we don’t have them.

 

I will happily concede the point that people will tell the story that benefits them the most - particularly in this case. A woman lied which led to the death of a 14 year old boy. When his killers were on trial, she lied under oath. After being acquitted of murder, the killers admitted to their crime and her lies.

We can get into the weeds and debate exactly what happened at that grocery store. We can talk about the various forms of duress Carolyn Bryant Donham was surely under - this is one of the points that doesn't get talked about enough. We can quote Roshomon and debate 'objective truth'. But when the three principle offenders all admit their guilt and their admissions confirm and support the testimony of others a basic truth emerges.

Let's look at some facts. It was Bush II's DOJ that reopened the case and concluded that no Federal charges could be filed because at the time the crime was committed Federal law had no jurisdiction. Bush's DOJ pushed for a Mississippi grand jury, which declined to indict anyone.

There is a difference between something being true and being able to prove it in a court of law. OJ was killed his wife, Michael Jackson was a pedophile, Michael Madigan is a corrupt turd - all true statements but none can be proved in a court of law. However, given the facts in evidence at the time and a non-biased jury there is no doubt in my mind that Bryant and Milam would have be convicted of murder Carolyn Bryant Donham of accessory and perjury. With the evidence that came out after the trial, it's a slam dunk.
