I feel for Mamie Till Mobley. She never was able to get justice for her son. This was a raw deal. Parents shouldn’t have to bury their children.
bryan21384 and buddyd157 Thank this. -
No, you didn't - at least if your point was that movies designed for entertainment take liberties with the truth.
It is an accepted truth that Carolyn Bryant Donham lied, her husband and his brother abducted and killed a boy, Carolyn Bryant Donham lied under oath to protect them, Bryant and Milam were aquitted of murder and then promptly proclaimed their guilt, and that officials failed to serve a warrant against Carolyn Bryant Donham.
We can quibble about the details of the case - particularly about who else was involved - but the main points are true in almost EVERY dramatic recreation. I say almost because there is a film that depicts Emmett Till physically assaulting Carolyn Bryant Donham and portrays his killing as justice - care to guess who funded that film?
Your statement made it seem like you believe Carolyn Bryant Donham wasn't a liar who's actions lead to the death of a boy.bryan21384 Thanks this. -
This is my original statement. You jumped to the conclusion that I was defending her. I never said I was. My point was clear as long as you didn’t impart whatever bias you were bringing to the table. And no matter what you think. YOU do not know what happened. You weren’t there. You don’t know anybody that was there and I doubt you were even alive. Everything you have is second hand information. Much the same way as whatever movie you watched that you say “the truth is much worse”. You do not know.Oxbow Thanks this.

Trolling? You caught a moderator. You and @gentleroger are not going to spend the rest of the evening bickering with each other and hijacking the thread like you've done before.
First and last warning. -
Just because I wasn't present at the Battle of Yorktown or the Constitutional Convention doesn't mean I don't know what happened there.
If you wanted to have a discussion over the accuracy of events in a film, then you needed to do that. What you did was imply that the facts of the Emmett Till case are in doubt, something that is definitively not true. -
So let's get back to the base point. What do you feel was misrepresented by the movie?Jubal Early Times and gentleroger Thank this.

I was making my last response as this posted. I'm out.REO6205 Thanks this.

Thanks Roger. I don't mind you guys arguing, that's part of what the forum is for, but when the arguing stops and the personal attacks begin it ruins it for the other guys. Two guys hijacking a thread with insults and personal criticism isn't anybody's idea of a good time.bryan21384, buddyd157 and mjd4277 Thank this. -
I didn’t watch the movie. I couldn’t say. But nobody has mentioned the two black men that helped the two white men. Was that in the movie?
