Did the movie mention that it wasn’t even this lady who told her husband? And that he got angry because she didn’t? Did it mention that she wasn’t the one who pointed Till out and confirmed it was him? Does it mention that even his own cousins lied about the events that led up to it?
Couldn't be any happier she has died.....

So let's be DEEPLY serious about you as a person here: when there's a movie about DARK, racist #### from our country's past, YOUR default (despite having ABSOLUTELY NO KNOWLEDGE of the movie) is to say, "Welp, can't believe everything ya see."
That's dark, and honestly a little scary.bryan21384, buddyd157 and gentleroger Thank this. -
That’s not what I’m saying at all. What I am saying is I don’t just blindly accept what is presented as fact. Then present it to others as fact. Did you know about the black men that were involved in the lynching? Honestly? And again was that in the movie? That’s not something that generally gets reported. Someone here said they hope this lady died a painful death. When there is some evidence that she isn’t the person who instigated it. Then others here claim she lied. Maybe she did lie to keep her husband out of jail. That doesn’t make her responsible for the boys death though.
But I’m the person who is dark?
Just because a narrative is being pushed doesn’t mean that it clearly represents the whole truth. This one is certainly murky. And I think it’s unfair to celebrate this woman’s death like she was some kind of monster. I at least don’t know her and I don’t know what extent her involvement was.
And you can’t believe everything you see.Last edited: Apr 28, 2023

Funny this popped up. About 3 weeks ago I watched a documentary on this case that was very well done that was re posted on you tube. It was of Ken Burns quality but I can’t recall who did it but I believe it was a guy who wrote the only book endorsed by the Till family decedents. It was really detailed and they found as many living survivors of the case including the two cousins and a friend that were with Emmit that day at the store and night he was taken from the uncles house. They covered everything the movie did not and strongly stated the family was angry about the movie. They also stated that the 2007 interview were she allegedly said she lied was hearsay because it was never recorded. It was the word of a guy who supposedly interviewed her with no other witnesses present. Most interesting thing was how at the time the local sheriff and police chief hid the two black men that helped with the lynching in a jail in another town so they could not testify and to this day no one has been able to find them. The only witness to them two being involved died over 40 years ago.
Like I said it was pretty detailed and had a ton of photos from unseen archives.Jubal Early Times and Oxbow Thank this. -

Anyone who was involved or even aware of it back then that wasn't screaming to anyone that would listen NO AND STOP is guilty in a way.
gentleroger, PaulMinternational and Swine hauler Thank this. -
yes, the 2 black men were in the pick up bed and helped the white men drag his body into it.
"new" move, 2022
Till (2022) - IMDbgentleroger Thanks this. -
she "instigated it" by LYING about what happened.
she even went as far as grabbing a revolver out of her car, and shooting at the now fleeing Emmet and his cousins
again, WITNESSES, who FEARED reprisals from the whites, and even up to the point of BOTH MEN admitting to a magazine reporter THEY KILLED the boy, and NAMED the woman as well....
christ, man.............
she was a white woman, in the deep south, where blacks had better know thier place.
where all a black person had to do was look at you wrong, and they'd get whipped.
i "smell" racism here on this site.....bryan21384 and gentleroger Thank this. -
Racism? In what sense? Do you think TTR itself is condoning racism or do you think it's the individual members?cuzzin it and Jubal Early Times Thank this.
