Apparently nobody is. If they were they wouldn’t be so lazy as to call people racist for stating that there is probably more to the story. That gut feeling is probably indigestion.

I supposedly have hatred for other races, but those that say that have hatred for a woman they don’t even know. That’s a wee bit hypocritical.

But to your point. Definitely justice was not served. But those two men died a long time ago. And the two men that help were never identified and there is some question to what her involvement was.

Personally, i dont give 2 hoots if he did nothing or if he asked her to give him a handie in the back room, seems pretty straightforward, wether she egged her husband on or tried to stop him, or just didnt have a thought in her head, she lived in 1955 mississipi, she KNEW what comes of "black boy disrespects white woman"

 

Do I think TTR is condoning racism? Not really, but there is a lot of tolerance for coded language, yet as soon as there is push back to it the mods step in. You and I have talked about this over the last few years in regards to conservative political posts being made in the open forum, being 'thanked' by mods, but as soon as a liberal posts a response the mods step in. Since those conversations there has been a marked change in tolerating responses, which has created some good dialogue, but I would posit that an explicitly racist thread could be created and continued provided two things. First, no 'trigger words' are used - words like 's u r v e y' that automatically alert a mod. Secondly there is no push back to the racist posts.

In this case, the OP stated that he saw a 'true story movie' about the Emmett Till case and a link to a story about the death of the woman who caused it.

The first response insinuated that the basic facts of the case are sensationalized fiction, then when called on it stated that we can't know the truth because none of us were there.

You stepped in and I stopped responding.

The second poster then engaged in 'whataboutism' in regards to the black men that aided and abetted this heinous crime, which and ranted about a 'narrative is being pushed doesn’t mean that it clearly represents the whole truth' without being called on it. This is akin to the Happy Slave Narrative, or pointing out the Jews and First Nations people who collaborated with their own destruction. When the OP said "i "smell" racism here on this site.....", you called him out on it. But you didn't respond to Jubal.

I am in no way calling you a racist. Nor am I saying you did something racist unintentionally. What I am saying is that we tolerate racist posts until they become uncomfortable.

 

I haven’t seen anyone post in defense for anyone involved in the actual crime. I have seen them question the validity of certain statements and things that were posted as fact. But defending the original aggressors or the woman that allegedly caused this atrocity in the first place seems to have evaded me. Please use the quote posts feature to help enlighten me.

I would be surprised if anyone here actually thinks beating him was justified and murder is way more severe than that.

This mentality of if you don’t 100% agree with me you must be racist really is getting old, tiresome and has come to the point of having no affect on people. We have in simple terms become numb to this tactic and no longer question ourselves. It is however time for those who have no other options but to attemp to use this tactic to start questioning themselves and open thier minds to what is really being said and why!

 

Roger, I'm going to kick this post up to where the Admins can take a look at it. If we're doing as poor a job of moderating as you claim we are the problem needs to be addressed. It will be, too.
On the other hand, if your accusations have no merit and you're using subtle intimidation to get your way we need to address that also.
