    A FEW UPDATES, 3/20:
    The bad:
    1) Upper and middle "management" are psychopaths.

    2) Lots of volvos. i had previously heard we weren't buying anymore volvos, but that was a while ago. Trucks are, however, generally kept in good shape. i still think 'Liner is the best thing we got as far as comfort, ergonomics, dependability etc.

    3) We finally got an electric jack. One to be shared among all the drivers. Looks like End-of-line terminals will be getting one per bid. Larger/hub terminals likely several per bid? This is, unfortunately, a light duty model not really suited for LTL work and not doing too well. i understand that you don't want too large a jack in a trailer, but this is LTL and it really looks like there's no choice BUT to get a larger jack. If food service can function with a larger jack, so can we.

    The not-as-bad:
    4) The work itself is pretty smooth / stress-free.
Other than the irregular / heavy pallets we frequently get, it's generally pretty smooth.

Generally, if you work steady and watch your time at stops-----corpo doesn't want us to take more than 15 mins at any one particular stop, you're ok. If you are delayed, just notify dispatch and you should be ok.

    5) pay and benefits ok...as you can see.

Do you still have any brown trucks left? A new Volvo has to be an improvement over those.

We have plenty of brown tractors left. And we're not repainting them either----costs too much.
i still think the older liner and newer liner cascadias are the best we have as far as comfort, ergonomics, dependability etc. i personally don't like volvos, but maybe they're ok for road / OTR?

Was just wondering because I haven't seen one around my neck of the woods in a long time. Mostly Freightliners and recently been seeing some new Kenworths with the ugly black grille.

We had a KW just before the force buyout and it stayed a while afterwards(i think it was a T-660 model?) then it apparently went to another terminal. i was on extra-board back then and would get assigned to different trucks all the time. Anyways, i didn't particularly like it----wasn't comfortable. Again, maybe ok for roadwork / long distance driving.

i noticed FedEx frt has smaller kw tractors and i think those might be more suitable for P+D?

MOst of these newer trucks including volvo just feel too "chunky" / "bulky" inside.

There's just something about the "older" cascadias 2012-2019ish that has grown on me. Most comfortable, good visibility, very user friendly----to me.
