Thumbs up for BIG LOTS distribution centre in Tremont, Pa. (I-81 exit 107)
You just back up and they unload---drivers aren't even allowed on the dock!
No H.S., C.S. or G.S.
[Definitions: H= horse
C= Cow
G= Gorilla]
Now, they did take about 3 hours to unload, It was a floor load of cereal, but i took a nap.
Clean restroom and vending machines.
And the people are upbeat and positive.
They won't let you park on property though. There is however, a small truckstop at the 104 exit.
Shop BIG LOTS if you can.

Big Lots in Columbus Ohio is a joke, took forever to unload, security guard a pain in the butt I think I was there for about 6 hours to unload half a trailer on pallets.

Cereal is floor loaded in a lot of ways. I've had several kinds of it. What are you talking about?
Once I had a floor load of bulk forsted flakes that was in what appeared to be 8 foot tall draw string laundry bags. It had been made in mexico and I was delivering it to Kellogs in Grand Rapids, MI. A little backwards methinks.
I've had several times where I had cubes containing cases of cereal. When I say cubes, I mean, they're on a slip sheet and look like a pallet, just without the pallet. Picked up like a pallet with a special lift truck accessory that looks like a spatula.
And i've just plain had cases of cereal shoved in there to the point of almost exploding the trailer. -
So thats why Cereal is tasting so bad these Days!
I used to love Corn Flakes but the last few Boxes ive bought have been BLAAAH!
Sorry for going OT, dont mean to High Jack your Thread. -
dollar tree in berwick, pa has the same setup.......the buildings look so alike it's eerie, although DT doesn't have the vending machines. us express runs most of the loads out of there.

Costco Sumner,Wa. you drive up to security hand them the bills without getting out your truck they hand a beeper with your door number on it.Back in when the beeper goes off in 30 min.for me on three different loads you go back to security without getting out give the beeper back and get your bills.If it wasn't for opening and closing the doors you could stay in the truck the whole time.It went like this three times for me very friendly people as well.

According to the guard at Ralston Foods in Battle Creek, MI (this is the company that makes most offbrand/storebrand cereal), Corn Flakes/Frosted Flakes are the only cereals Kelloggs is making in Mexico.
I honestly haven't eaten cereal since I saw the manner that stuff was shipped in. Kind of bothered me. I'm going to permanently stay away from cornflakes, and it gives me moral issues to purchase anything from Kelloggs, on the grounds of how they make themselves look like a Michigan company that makes #### in Michigan, even though they dont.
FYI, you can look alll over that box, and it does not tell you it was made in mexico. It does not tell you where it was made, period. But I hauled it, I saw the bills.
Funny thing though, I'm hauling a Kelloggs load from Canada right now. It's just shrinkwrapped special K dvds though (they must be starting a promotion soon i guess). Made in the usa, shrinkwrapped in canada, shipped back to the usa. THE HELL?LodiKen Thanks this. -
Wait till you do a water run for Poland Springs. Their main plant is much as the OP describes.

Here in the UK very few firms allow you anywhere near the back of the trailer these days.
Instead they now insist you hand your keys into the office, stay out of your truck and direct you to a drivers rest room where there are varying degrees of facilities. From empty vending and drinks machines and wooden seats to those with coffee on free vend with 24 hr tv and comfy seats.
It took a few nasty accidents and even some deaths while trucks were pulling on and off docks before their insurance companies went ballistic and hey presto we were no longer needed to "assist" unloading. Thats a real shame coz after a nice 4 and half hour drive I really enjoyed spending another few hours hand balling off their stuff. -
Hah. Sounds like Delphi in Saginaw, MI. Hell i wonder if that place is even still open, it's a GM factory in michigan....I picked up a load of steering components up there once. They had a set of drawers with dock door numbers on them, each one had a different key in it. They had a chain locked across each dock door, and you had to take that key and replace it with your truck keys, and unlock the chain. ONLY the driver was allowed to lock/unlock that chain.
Then you had to wear safety glasses and a vest to leave the drivers area, which was just two chairs and a table. But they didnt have any so i had to borrow some. LOL.
The best part though, was i see why they need these rules....my loader had punched into the system that he was done before he put the last tote on. I locked the chain and started walkin out and he came up with another tote with this WTF look on his face. LOL.
he said he punches it in before hes done to get the paperwork done faster.
sounds like a trucker
must be why they have those chains.
