Vans damaged when car hauler collides with overpass, Michigan troopers say
I see bridge strikes in the news constantly.
I don't understand how this happens.
As professionals, we're charged with safely transporting freight from a to b.
Carelessness? Ignorance? Dgaf?
In school, we had a 13-7 bridge we went under to demonstrate whether or not we should run under it.
Instructors had us stop, pop the 4 ways, and creep up to it, and check if we fit safely.
Get out and look.
Obviously, we fit fine. It was a lesson to teach is not to trust height signs, and if we weren't absolutely sure, to perform a safe method of checking.
Can someone please explain how these strikes happen?
Know your load height

Simple... this driver didn't check to see how hight HIS load was.. has nothing to do with the clearance sign.

Wow. If those Ram and Ram Promaster vans were brand new the car hauler’s insurance is going to go through the roof!!

The damndest thing is ...... from that driver seat - as far as a commercial truck is concerned - the bridge is dern near eye-level.
I have never NOT gotten the tape measure out on any abnormal height vehicle on my rollback.flood Thanks this. -
Must be a fleet of parking lots painted like that, because I saw one going north on I-75, into Toledo, this morning. They’re regulars on I-75, as I recall.
