WT:%%%% am I missing?
On a typical 75' combination with 5 axles
1st weigh:
Steer: 13060
Drive: 28140
Trailer: 34460
Total: 75660
Adjust the trailer axles and return for 2nd weigh ~5 minutes later:
Steer: 11980
Drive: 31120
Trailer: 32540
Total: 75640
How in the world am I getting ~2k different weights on my steers?
WTH am I missing?

My math shows you took 1,080 lbs off your steers and the second weigh looks good. I am not sure what your concern is?

Brakes were on ?? Roll onto to scale softly and shut off in gear if it’s a standard transmission. If not only set tractor brakes ..
gentleroger and Numb Thank this. -
Was your mom in the passenger seat on the first weigh?
I couldn’t resist. Maybe there was an issue with the scale. I’ve scaled back to back within 5 minutes and my gross was a 2k difference between the two. Hard to trust scales. Also possible on the second weigh a little of your steer tire was off the scale.Last edited: May 5, 2023
Opus and Flat Earth Trucker Thank this. -
Your kingpun is pretty far rearward of drive center?
Hammer166, singlescrewshaker, AModelCat and 1 other person Thank this. -
I’m guessing your fifth wheel is rear of center on your drive axles as mentioned above. Adding weight to your drives will take weight off your steer axle if that’s the case.

How many holes did you slide on the rear tandems ?
Flat Earth Trucker Thanks this. -
Slide your seat two notches back.
And hammer down. -
Putting a fatter person on the teeter totter or closer to the fulcrum.

My concern is how I'm getting such a heavy weight on the steer axle at first weigh.... I have not had this kind of issue with any other truck before....
I'm just trying to understand.singlescrewshaker Thanks this.
