Actually, my 5th wheel is set so my kingpin rests right between the drive axles.... I've found that is generally the "set and forget" position. I've only had to adjust it on NEW trucks....
Scaling help, 75' combination with 5 axles.

Nope... 5th wheel is set so the kingpin rests between the axles

I slid my axles 4 holes toward the rear, most of our trailers have holes spaced 4" apart, but we do have some that are spaced 6" apart, so your trailer might have a different adjustment.singlescrewshaker and Diesel Dave Thank this.

That brings a question.... if the driver is heavy; maybe an amateur bodybuilder and he carries some weights with him to use..... maybe he's obese, just not enough to be considered morbidly obese and can somehow still get his fat butt into the cab, and even passes his physical.....
What happens if he's so heavy that his additional weight puts too much weight on the steers? -
What do the steers weigh when you have the drives at 34?
You can go up to 13 on the steers.
I don't know why you all so in love with the number 12.Diesel Dave and Cattleman84 Thank this. -
Gotcha. I always run heavy up front, but I am rated for 14,600.Hammer166 Thanks this.

Im good to 13500 ish in my grey truck, but only have 12k on the new to me blue truck. Not a problem since its impossible to get more than 11700 on these steerssinglescrewshaker Thanks this.

The truck I'm driving now is 11.7 empty. 12.9 loaded at 95k.

First thing you are missing is that 13060 - 11980 = 1080, not ~2K.
Moving tandems or fifth wheel makes it easy to move that much weight off of the steers.singlescrewshaker Thanks this. -
Is there any chance that you were pulled up a little too far on the scale the first time, and got some drive tire on the front scale?
Diesel Dave, gentleroger and Long FLD Thank this.
