I didn't say I was good at math..... I just haven't had that much weight on the steers on any truck before this one....

I didn't get into this because I liked math or had good penmanship....

    gentleroger and Todd727 Thank this.

I didn’t think I’d that if someone is driving a shorter wheelbase truck.

Oh, if penmanship comes into this, I'm out :D

Only reason I pointed out the math is because I don't think it was that bad of a change.

Incidentally, I used a site scale today, that was full length, just not set up to give axle weights; so I have an excel spreadsheet that does the math for me. This is what I came up with:

    Steer: 11520
    Drive: 32720
    Trailer: 30460
    Total: 74700

Granted, this was the 2nd weigh after the trailer was too close to 34000 for my preference, so I slid the axles back by 2 and recalculated.

But my steer was NOT oddly heavy. Hmmmm

You end up sliding the 5th wheel back. I've had guys show up to my truck and the first thing we do is slide the 5th back a hole to accommodate their weight.

As to your first question - dollars to doughnuts it's how you were on the scale/how you set the brakes. It is possible to play games on the scale to get a legal readout when you are anything but. It's hard on the equipment and the scale and no one should do it, but it's possible. My guess is the trailer was pushing against the tractor, or the trailer suspension dumped and lifted up the 5th wheel slightly, making fuel pool at the front of the tanks. The other possibility is the scale didn't tare properly for the first weigh, but did for the reweigh.

When you set your trailer brakes, does the trailer suspension dump? Looking at those tickets, it sure looks like you set both brakes and your trailer dumped, pushing forward on the truck.
