Hello everyone, I’m not sure if I’m posting this in the correct forum so please let me know.
I currently live in Indianapolis and I’m in the middle of CDL school. This is a pretty decent area for the industry as I’ve been told, but I need to move to Philadelphia. It seems like a decent area for work and I was wondering if anyone in the industry lives there. I’m single with no kids so I don’t mind living in a gritty area, but would it be possible to rent a $1,400-$1,600 apartment near Center City or anywhere in Philadelphia starting out? If you recommend any companies I’d love to hear suggestions. Thanks.
Philadelphia residents.

You're absolutely right. I'm just trying to quarterback some finances about the place I will lay my head. Hell, If I'm OTR I'd be willing to rent an $800 slophouse pad, but I was just wondering if I wanted to, could I afford that $1300-$1600 range in Philadelphia starting out?
77fib77 and The Crossword Trucker Thank this. -
You dont even need a flophouse . Most otr guys are out for three weeks at least anyway and only home for three or four days a month. Just put everything in storage for a few years and take your home time in places you want to visitsnowlauncher, Eddiec, Opus and 1 other person Thank this.

Why not rent a $200 per night hotel suite every few weeks for 2 nights when you are in Philly and put the rest of your cash in your pocket? If you are single, OTR, have no good reason to lease an apartment, don't. An apartment isn't just an apartment. It is an electric bill, water bill, maybe cable TV or satellite, and maybe even HOA or garbage fees, etc. You might be home 3-6 days in a month. A $1600 rent check divided by 6 days per month is $267 per day. What kind of nice hotel room costs $267 per night? I's clean, quiet and has elctricity, TV, free breakfast, a pool, security, etc.

Apartments.com and an internet search using the terms "center city Philadelphia" and rental should answer your question.

You are going to have a hard time finding a place to park your truck near Philly and there is a good chance it will be broken into or stolen. You may have to pay $300 per month just to park the truck.
