Hello, everyone. New driver here, still slogging through the paperwork hell that is orientation, and I had a question. How do you charge a laptop in a truck? I know the company I'm working for (USA Truck) is making a big deal about not using inverters. What I don't know is if there's standard 12 volt outlets in a truck, if I need to find a car charger, if I need to sneak in to truck stops for a few hours and steal a charge, anything like that. What do you folks do? Thanks for the info.

Get a 400 watt plug in inverter. Thats enough to charge your laptop and cell phone.I bought mine a little over 3 years ago so I can't help you with a price.

Make sure you get one that is at least 100 watts with 200 watt peak power, if you plan to Plug into the 12 volt power outlet. any less, that power inverter will be working Overtime and shut down.
I have this little unit. Comes with a USB output.
MoneyCat Thanks this. -

Make sure they never know you even have one in your truck...

I had a little roadpro my last few months that honestly i think was better than Cobra. was 400 watts and would power both my ps2 slim, and my laptop at same time.

I had a little Cobra plug-in inverter that ran my T.V. and PS2 at the same time. I figure that means it would also run and charge a laptop. By the way, I kept the inverter hidden behind the T.V. (one of those truckstop models with dual power inputs and built in DVD player), so the company wouldn't find it without a deliberate search.
