CT State Police Facebook page summed it all up.

Usually along I-95 if there are any oversized/heavy haul traveling along that highway they’re almost always under police escort,as parts of I-95 are under construction (lane shifts here and there, bridge work/deck replacement,etc.).

Plus, they nailed him for other violations (they didn’t specify what however). He got nailed right in the middle of morning rush hour traffic going to NYC.

I don't know for sure because we run under an annual permit, but if it was an in-state move I can't think it would be much over $200. In Wyoming when I buy a trip OS/OW for similar weight it is usually less than $200 unless I am going clear across the state. @Jubal Early Times , would know, or @stwik probably sees the price of permits too.

I have been stopped twice by portables. Both times it was determined that my ground clearance was too low to safely cross them. I honestly didn’t know they could get a lowboy on a set.

    Oxbow Thanks this.

Jeesh permits are CHEAP! And I use a service which makes it EASY!

    This is just sloppy laziness!

And it doesn't look like some rookie setup there! Like clearly whoever owns that rig knows what the heck is up!

    mjd4277 and Oxbow Thank this.

More or less. That driver may have single-handedly solved Connecticut’s budget deficit!
