Ok...I was supposed to start my new job this past sunday (my last day at old job was supposed to be last thursday). Anyhow, after going thru all the tests, paperwork etc, the day before I was to quit old job, new job finally did paperwork on insurance (filling out the forms). This is when I found out that because (by the time) the new insurance kicked in I would have been without any insurance for more than 36 wks and after that period, anything you had going on health wise would be considered pre-existing. So I couldn't take new job since my wife has health issues, BUT...old job (which I had returned to in Dec), my insurance starts first wk of April # the 32 wk mark, so I had to stay. (WHEW...now I think Im confused). Well, I returned all things that I got from new job, including physical card, and told them that there was no way I could switch. Today I got the Bill..lol If I had just up and changed my mind I could understand, this is a bitter pill...I wish that when I kept asking about the info on ins. that they had told me then.
It definetly was a learning experience...just remember about the 36 wk (insurance co. rule) have a good day
repaying prehire physical

36 weeks? wtf? I only waited 60 or 90 days at this company.
What good did that do to you? You still screwed yourself outta insurance.
How much do they want?
What's the company? That's bull to charge that back to you. If you pay for it, make sure you get the physical card and longform back. If they dont give it back dont pay.... -
32 weeks is a ridiculously long amount of time to wait for insurance to kick in. Personally, I think thats something they should have revealed during your interview.

You could have taken out a Cobra plan from you present employer to cover you until the new insurance kicked in. They cannot refuse you on this. It is high, but it will get you over the "hill".

LOL...the company wasn't making me wait 36wks for insurance (I knew I would get all confused). If you leave a place of employment, and your insurance ends on the day you left. Then you have 36wks to get new insurance before insurance companies consider any illnesses etc you have "prior" illnesses and they won't cover it....I never heard of such a thing, till last day of my 2 day orientation (and the day before I was to quit my other job) Thats why I stuck it out with my previous job, my insurance there, was to start before the 36wk deadline (and yes I would have thought that the new co. would have understood but like I said before, live and learn)
