A driver with sleep apnea is in no danger of losing his job if he finds effective treatment .

Didn't I read all this a few short years ago when the new hos rules were put in place? "going to cripple trucking, everone out of work ect" guess what! everyone that wants to be here is still here! Like someone said eariler, times change, you'd better too! Sonny Pruitt's day is over! Tech has caught up with the Bandit and the cowboy days of driving are over. And having lived through them I can't say I'm really sorry to see them go. Bring on csa 2010! I'm ready!

good mourning all: now fellows as always there are so many rumors about the new regs most have no idea what to believe here is a few clues about what to expect.

if your a pro at what you do you have nothing to worry about most of it is nothing new it is already being done at the state level all is now being recorded at the federal level in a national data base which means any cop can pull your record from the compuer in his car almost instantly.

whats new is they not only keep a record of the driver they also keep a record of the companys which is a good thing if they exceed there vilolations the dot can shut them down now who knows if they will ever do that they never have they have always blames the driver.

if you are a dieabetic you can still drive IF your blood sugar is controlabel with medicatrion NOT WITH INSULEN you can not drive a cmv while taking insulen.

being fat or obese well that alone wont keep you from driving by itself however when you take a medical exam they might tell you to stop eating so many biscuits if it is afecting your blood presure and similar medical problems but being fat alone will not prevent you from diving.

restraints in the sleeper, well that one has been part of the dot regs for a long time and in some cases will get you a ticket.

having your bed made up? now come on fellows think, that aint gonna happen however when you go thrue a chicken house and you look like a pro and your truck looks good it might just get you a free pass. however even the dot cant use profiling its illegal and yes they do have to obey the law.

you have to remember the dot does not make the law they just enforce the law there responsibility is enforcment and they do it very well, they collect money for BIG BROTHER and big brother thinks a big truck is an atm machine and there free to make a collection at any time .

as far as the HOS rules , well i pay little attention to them or the log book , hell they cant even make up there mond how to fill it out , why do you think they call it a funny book and the new changes are not even out yet, of course you have to drive according to you license not mine .

the new regs are going to wreck the trucking business. not a chance but i will tell you this all these so called professional driver that think a cmv that is 13.6 high and 70 ft long weighing 80000 is a toy and drive it like its a toy just might find yourself flipping burgers at burger king if you dont clean up your act these new regs are for you and people like you in perticular.

most of us have little to worry about the new breed well thats another story and all of you no who you are .nobody can be that stupid and not no it .

now make no mistake about it the dot can give you a ticket and believe it you can in fact talk yourself into jail so act accordingly, act like a profesional thats is what you are supposed to be . if you do and you look like a pro i dont think many will have to much to worry but all you new drivers another point to keep in mind , just because you drive a big truck does not make you a bad a-- .

and all of you that drive a truck YOU CAN NOT BELIEVE ALL THE RUMERS YOU HEAR that will just give you an ulcer.

all of you stay safe and have a good ride. southernpride :biggrin_25514:

Drive Legal, let the Cowboys and illegal loggers (log book) fade away. Shortage of drivers means more higher wages for us others!

You would like to think that but it will never happen. They tried to sell us that line of bull before when the CDL first came out. I'm still waiting for that raise!
Whatever you have to tell yourself to believe the government is actually going to help you this time!

I remember when the CDL came out, we were told it would be a source of endless work and profit for holding a commercial license. It actually did and does still offer you work,as long as you keep it clean. As far as the money I never saw it, either driving class B or A.
I did alot of tours with Europeans that don't understand what the word tip is,that is the majority of a tour drivers money. The driver has lots of work and responsibility, and gets paid piddly by the company, being that he/she will get tipped.
Still here in Fl, they are paying $9-$11 to drive a bus full of people and deal with all that for such a small wage.If I am wrong let me know, I was making that 23 years ago.Why haven't the wages gone up? Why do companies get away with that? I fully understand that the company has fixed expenses, but what about the driver? If anyone wants to look, check out craigs list and see what misearble wages are still being offered for drivers/laborers/restaraunt workers and so on.
And sometimes I still see class A drivers being sought for a whopping $8.50 ph.
    Maybe I'm nuts.....but I find that a slap in the face!!:biggrin_25510:

I read they will go back 2 years to collect info about drivers. That's not rigtht. It should start at the date the CSA takes effect. So we could learn about them and get prepared.

Two years ago violations, tickets, infractions etc had values/ points different than what they will have in this CSA.

Less than two years ago I got a warning ticket for "defective mudflap". The trooper said one of my mud flaps was "swinging too much". No kidding...:biggrin_25523:

I wonder how many points one may get for this same "violation" in this CSA but if I knew it then, I would have treated it differently.

    JustSonny and scottied67 Thank this.

Hi rocks, that could be as little as 2 points, but then they times that by a severity weight if I read it right. It is unfair that they go back 2-3 years, that adds up alot of points for prior violations or warnings.
When I worked for ARROW TRKG it was a blessing to find a trl w/any mud flaps! And "swinging tto much", no just looking real hard to find something, that is where CSA2010 will put drivers at risk each day, even if it happened after the pre-trip,they still fault the driver.......:biggrin_25510:
    Best wishes,be safe...
