They used to be in Houston area..but they priced themselves so far out of reality that they ended up closing all Houston area stores even the dc in katy was closed down..

It’s my understanding they closed because
They own Randall’s since the Safeway acquisition
Be kinda of competing with themselves

The closure happened long before any merger happened with randall’s….Albertsons owns stores in dfw and there are tom thumb stores which are another version randalls up there as well.

Here in near central Tarheel, we have LIDL, ALDI, Harris-Teeter, PUBLIX, Food Lion, and I dunno what else. Wife-n-I deal with Tweeter and Publix, randomly Food Lion as well a couple Herbal Food stores.

Used to have several in Austin. They had a large supply of Muratic acid for some reason. Like a half an isle of the stuff.
They all closed up years ago.

    bzinger and drvrtech77 Thank this.

Albertson’s rebranded to United, or Market Street, in the Midland/Odessa area.
We have them, HEB, Walmart, and in Odessa there are Lowes Foods, they(Lowes) are in a lot of the smaller surrounding towns.

    bzinger Thanks this.

I will have you know that I am a boni fide graduate of the Acme Markets (Philadelphia PA) checker training school, class of 1969.
Had a crush on one of the other cashiers like the one in the picture.
When I told her I wanted to drive a truck for a living she told me to take a hike...

Acme was bought out by Albertson's years ago.
