I'm fortunate enough to have a dual income house, so my wife can handle all bills until I get myself settled with my new career. I glad that there are a few people here to shed some light on a very important issues. I like all the info, it will prepare myself or anyone else of what to expect when you leave your house to start this career. Thanks guys

No such contract if you paid for your own school. I was not locked into any contract for training or any other costs when I went to Stevens.

Thanks I knew I could pass the test. Granted my wallet is $150.00 lighter, but the way I figure it I don't take the test and I have no hope of making money. I fork out the cash and pass the test and I have a career ahead. In my opinion it's a no-brainer. Night all

I do have a Question? I am going to school in the next couple of week's I will get my CDL through the school I am attending/ So if you decide to go with a pre-hire like say Steven's Transport you have get your CDL even if you have one already? sound's like a dumb question but just trying to get thing's figured out that all.

If you already have your CDl you will have to go thru Orientation in Dallas and do a road test for stevenson

way to go formygirlz! As for Smokrsmom, ignorance is easy to ignore. As for todays 'blog' entry....I am about to enter my fourth week with trainer 2, the finish trainer. I do all trip plans, refueling, paperwork and dock negotiations, and anything else needed to be done to show I can go do this alone. My trainer drives his share and offers tips and advice when really needed. He's said when the call comes asking if I'm ready he will be willing to release me to grad fleet.

Have to make short entries because phone goes slow on long ones. lol Not going to pay for wifi at a TA because it sucks so bad. Anyway, sitting at the Ontario West TA waiting to hit warehouse down the street this evening. Will probably go over to the mall in a bit to window shop. This week we avoided the snowicane in the NE by good planning and routing, and got in and out with minimum time down during the ice rain on 81. Its nice to be sitting in 70s and sun again! Also sorry 8 can't do paragraphs on the cellphone! I wanted to point out that I may not have the typical trainning experience at Stevens. My class was 18 on day 1, went down to 12 start of second week, and was down to 6 the last week. One of us was held back a week during week 2 for a heart murmur thaat passed both US Army and FAA in the past, but Stevens wanted new test done at his expense. He did it and cleared. Then after passing classes his first trainer and him didn't get along at all. He requested a new trainer and they disagreed on logging rules and ways to the point he got a third trainer. His third trainer was a slob and my friend is a neat freak, so again he had a tough time but stuck it out. His finish trainer was again imossible to get along with and also was a 'lose log keeper'. Having army and FAA background and not wanting 'lose log keeping' troubles if he went back to flying, and being tired of trainer switching, he called it quits. So not everyone has the nearly ideal experience I have. My other classmates are doing well and two of them are now in their own trucks.
