My husband has been with Crete for five years...The first couple of years were great, we were getting all kinds of miles. Then they started hiring more and more drivers and taking away the miles...Here lately we are lucky if he even gets 1400 miles a week. The dispatchers pick and choose the drivers they want to give loads to and leave the others to sit and wait...This is supposed to be forced dispatch, yet they let drivers call in and ask for loads, give them the loads and let other drivers sit for days waiting...If you are looking for a good company to drive for and want to be able to pay your bills, feed your family or keep your house...Do not go to Crete...They try to say they are the best when in fact they are the best at letting you sit....:biggrin_2557:

Yea, but my husband is a good guy and would not want to take a load away from someone who had been sitting for 20+ hours and could take it...He's not one to screw someone else over like that...

    JustSonny Thanks this.

When I was running OTR I never allowed myself to sit, I'm sorry but my truck rolling was my only concern, granted I hauled aggregates which is way off the map of general freight, but there is still the waiting game involved. When I unloaded I allowed around a 20 minute window to get an idea of which direction I was headed, if I didn't hear something I was on the phone and atleast headed in the general direction of a load. I was never given any grief for this, and I always stayed moving, but then again I work for a good company who cares about their drivers and the fact that they're not making any money if I'm not making any money. Best of luck to him, but maybe it's time for him to step up to the plate and worry about himself and his family first, and the only way to do that is to keep moving.

At Crete you do not have the option of calling dispatchers for a choice of loads, you are mislead or being misinformed. Miles have dropped off some due to the economic status of the U.S. but Crete manages to procure loads to keep drivers employed. I myself and like other drivers are not over enthused on the idea of less miles but at least we are still with jobs while others have lost theirs along with the many companies that shutdown. Hopefully things will get better for all of us, hang in there and stay positive.

They may tell you that you don't have the option of calling dispatchers for a choice of loads...My husband has been in the office when many of those calls have come in and they give them the loads...Only a handful have been told to come in and get on the board...I guess it is a good thing that he is going to another company...Hopefully better...We will see

Your husband might be a good guy, I'm a good guy but when it comes to may pay check I don't worry about the other guy. When the other drivers at Crete start paying your bills then I would start worrying about if they got a load or not. He needs to be on the phone getting a load not worrying about the other driver who has sat for 20 hours. The other driver, I'll bet ain't worried about your husband.
