I'm sure they are but I'm also sure if they're living like rich folks they didn't get there by building a business that was dependent on you or other freight brokers. It's not a reliable way to stay on steady, dependable, profitable freight. You're just filler work.

I don't work with fly by night brokers. I filter out a dozen or more that I won't even respond to on any given day. Any carrier depending 100% on brokers, even one as as special as yours, is just the drop of a hat away from having the rug pulled out from under them. It’s crazy. Brokered freight is best used as a stop gap and filler work.
PPLC Thanks this. -

At this point in time im 98% broker freight. Definitely not about to have the rug pulled out from under me at all. 48’ step deck with ramps. I do go to some of the worst places on the east coast though and deal with nonsense, I don’t mind it though. Im pushing $3 every mile ran so far this year, I’d say half of that was empty miles. Was parked most of the 1st quarter, from Christmas to March, maybe did 3 loads. Broker freight is what you make of it. Would I love a big contract going out and back empty making good revenue with a direct customer sure would. For now though hustling the load board has paid the bills and then some. Ever since I lost my Paver hauling deal when I lived in NY I been hustling the board. It’s a ####ty feeling when you do $1500 a day home every night with your family then someone new starts in the office and all of a sudden you have no work. So it can go either way direct or broker freight.
