    My school each student..
Each student had 2 hrs a day driving... 2 days 1 week and 3 days the next... 1 hr everyday on the backing range... rest was class room

School was 8 hrs a day, 5 days a week, for three months
    Cost $1,500 in 2004

School is intended to get you just enough experience to pass the test.
As for what you paid, I think you got hosed without a reach around courtesy rub.
Get through it. Pass the test. Then find a company that actually trains you. Mega carriers should be avoided if possible. You’re just a number in their grinder.
    Look at tanker dry bulk.
The companies that hire grads generally train them decent, some better than others.
Maybe @Chinatown can point you to options near you

If you pass, it's good. Your first company will get you on track.

How many hours is the school?
    Will you have endorsements?
Where is your location & state & nearest city/town?

    *Puts lawyer hat on.
"Behind the wheel" Can mean sitting on one of the theater seats in the sleeper that are there for the 3 students waiting for their next turn in the driver's seat.

I sure there is some fudging going on but the ELDT Regs define “behind the wheel” for both skills and on the road to be “when an entry-level driver has actual control of the power unit.”
