No self-respecting operator would do that, and the bang boards are not for banging but for allowing extra piled high material to not fall out of the box when the truck starts driving to keep the load from shifting and spilling out of the box, especially since we loaded salt that way for snow control...but also in case the operator isn't that skilled.

Easier to replace boards, than to replace metal, although I have loaded some I-beam bang boards before.

Years ago, there was someone who used to post on TTR that was bound and determined to heavy haul a multi axle with super singles. Said something about fuel economy. Your picture is a reminder why that’s NOT a good idea.
