Bumpy and so smooth at the same time. You can relax and listen to podcasts about how to be considerate of joggers and pedestrians. The bike lane can be our passing lane. If there’s a hazard we can just veer right into the cafe storefront and grab one of them macchiatos and a biscuit al boutaaar.

I already have half the board wanting to pull my kingpin and the other half wanting to take a tooth or two from me I might as well ask this too.

At literally every traffic lane closure on the interstate four wheelers and some truckers pick the closing lane to beat some traffic. Since this is always griped about but is a non stop problem doesn't it just make more sense to stop worrying about it and everybody zipper merging at the end?

Safer for you, maybe, but you are creating a bigger danger for the merging traffic that will be in the far left lane 1.3 miliseconds after they come down the on-ramp and those in the left lane when they are exiting 1.3 inches before the off-ramp. You and the other new drivers watching TikTok will be a steel wall of selfishness tailgating and getting break checked by the VIPs on your road.

I would never pull your kingpin my brother, and I am glad you are asking questions about important stuff. I just want to make sure that you are willing to be proven wrong and not just trying to make a point and stir things up.

So for now can we just stick to left lane question? Once we get a handle on it we can focus on the next one.
    Deal?

Don’t have a problem with a proper zipper merge at all. Changing lanes 16 times to save 17 seconds or waiting til the last second when traffic is actually flowing is what I can’t stand. And the idea of a zipper is to alternate, but when I’m courteous and let one in, the other 3 following them are dang near touching bumpers to try and squeeze in front too. Zipper merging works great when done correctly, but too many people use ‘zipper merge studies’ to justify being a tool. The same way too many people use ‘you saw the sign too’ as an excuse to role play hall monitor and block the other lane.

From afar your avatar looks like Mr. potato head with the top of his head exploded. You must have asked him about being in the left lane too :p

OK, but I get to stay in the closing lane until the very end and you all have to let me over at the very front of the line. I'm simply more important than you, my mother said so. Man, this thinking only about me is pretty nice. I'll be posting many more helpful hints how everyone can make my life easier.

Yeah agreed on zipper merging. I don't ride beside other trucks blocking lanes when we're losing a lane. That makes things even slower. I don't care if someone wants to merge in front of me. I don't care even if I know they're trying to race down the closed lane to beat everybody. I never understood drivers riding on somebody's bumper that wouldn't allow somebody to merge in. Kinda stupid. And stressful too. Doesnt take any effort to let em merge and go with the flow. It'll probably keep you from ####ing up and having an accident too.

Take a good look at what others then try to get around you. You create an unsafe situation for others.

Stay right! Also you don’t need to cut into the left lane at each and every on ramp. 95% of the trucks That just automatically jump out as they approach a ramp don’t need to. Heres something to test yourself with. For everytime you cut left to make way how many times do you actually not get ahead of the car/truck you made way for?

    Relax? What the————. ?
Your sitting there driving a truck, how hard physically is it? Your telling me that your too lazy to turn the cruise off and work the pedal, or to dumb to manage your speed! Your driving a truck, your doing it for pay it’s your job, stop being so danged lazy!

They have signs that tell us where the merge point is with plenty of signs telling us way in advance of what lane is closed. When all traffic stays in the open lane for miles before a closure it DOES NOT alleviate anything. All it really does is create a second, third, fourth and sometimes more merge points as traffic backs up, causes traffic that needs not be effected to back up beyond the ramps before the closure.
The person that just went by you didn’t do it to get ahead of you he did it to help keep the traffic from backing up farther then it needs to be. If your sitting in the lane that’s open and your 2 miles away from the merge point with the lane beside you empty your part of the problem!
I also like to watch the so called Know it alls that will cut into the other lane and park so they can “get this mess straightened out” they actually think because they stopped traffic and let most of everything in front of them get way out from them and now they get to just cruise on up to the choke point un- effected that traffic now will magically keep flowing. News flash it won’t, what they have done is nothing more than created an even longer backlog of traffic behind them that will still be choked down at the choke point and worse they have forced more people to be impatient thus reacting as they do creating an even more unsafe environment.
Those that think the guy in the other lane is trying to get ahead, ask yourself how many times you pass that guy up the road a few miles? Did he really get ahead? Did he try to stay ahead when you caught up to him? He was just cruising along and merged when he saw the sign that says lane ends 1500ft as he is supposed to. It’s you that try’s to hug the bumper of whatever is in front of you and won’t allow a 1 for 1 merge that causes the constant braking, stopping and starting and inconsistent traffic flow that now ripples behind you for miles.
