I don't know where you drive, but driving in most metro area these days is like being in the jungle. No respect to traffic laws, law enforcement is non existent. The right lane runs for tens of miles, often ends, so you have to make frequent lane changes taking more risks.shatteredsquare and Vampire Thank this.

So what do you consider a reasonable distance between ramps to justify moving right? Or are you the guy that never leaves the center or left no matter the distance?tscottme Thanks this.
-
There's no reasonable distance when you have to deal with so many unreasonable drivers all the time. I rarely drive over 60 mph, so if the speed limit is higher, I'm driving the right lane, but it's not fun.

Just be careful with the left lane on the 3 lanes in NJ. Cops have been busting trucks for running that lane even if the middle and right are doing 45 and the passing truck is doing the speed limit or higher. If you get a left lane ticket on the Woodbridge section they’ll make you come to the courthouse with the lawyer to negotiate the ticket.Vampire Thanks this.

That’s an outdated list it seems. It doesn’t have New Mexico updated with their new laws, and I’m not sure what other states aren’t current. That was just a quick google search while waiting to load earlier.
Edit: quite a few on that list make no mention of speed. They simply state keep right except to pass, and no mention of driving the speed limit or not. -
I’ve run in several states where the right lane is so ate up with pot holes that I won’t run in it unless driving in the left lane is impeding traffic. I am an owner operator and pay for my own repairs and some of those right lanes are ridiculous.Phoenix Heavy Haul and Siinman Thank this.

As do I. So why does that mean my choices are drive the speed you are (when passing on the left isn’t an option) or run my equipment in the right lane that you don’t want to drive in just so I can get around you?Siinman Thanks this.

Meanwhile, in Florida....Cattleman84 Thanks this. -
Yeah like i40 in NM and AZ. I was through there a couple weeks ago and it was an absolute mess. Amazing the difference between an i80 and i40 run across the country.Cattleman84 Thanks this.
