Needing a reputable ss60 12.7 shop south of Chicago or 1 or 2 hours south of Chicago. Got a 98 ss12.7 acting strange no one can fix?

Did you try a Detroit Diesel dealer like W W Williams or ever who is the Dealer for you area. Then you get warranty on the repair they do at any Detroit Diesel shop.

The DD dealer in Gary, IN, used to be awesome. They’d be my first stop.

Sputters at 1400-1600 rpms between shifts. Not all the time or every gear. More noticeable between shifts when rpms fall at 1400 then gradually accelerate. Mechanics drive it with no issue. I drive it and have issues.

Are you in the truck when they test drive it? I'll admit, many times a customer woukd bring a truck in doing something, or making a different sound, and I couldn't hear or feel the symptom.

You drive it every day and know it better than anybody. Doesn't mean they can tell anything different about it.

First thought for me is loose injector or bad injector o rings. Was called out to another shop once for a similiar issue they couldn't fix. Test drove it (owner of the truck was with me and pointed out when it was stumbling, I didn't notice it at first) and made a few other checks, and replaced them.

Guys in that shop thought I was crazy.

Their customer was mine after that day.

Unless they're test driving with a loaded trailer. They may not get anything bobtail.

Around here. Not many test drive. They don't have a cdl either.
