I have been on my own for many years now and very thankful for it after reading through some of this. I'm not real familiar with all of the inside corruptions or company driver policies that are inflicted on you co folks out there these days, but it sounds to me like, "Calves Off To The Slaughter"! Every one of these big companies/corps are setting up scams to somewhat force all new drivers to go with the lease so it relieves them of most of the costs and liability, etc.. Yet still lines their bank accounts with gold... While you struggle just to pay a company to drive for them, they are moving forward... When one driver fails or is forced out, they have a barrage of new drivers stock piled, anxiously waiting and willing to except anything just to get behind the wheel because they think they can pay bills and feed their family. By the time they realize what they have gotten into... Its way to late. That's just terrible, it's immoral, and it should be illegal. Most people out their, new to the game... "And Even Some Not So New", are not prepared to take on this kind of responsibility. especially something set up to work against them. And to "ON THE SPOT" force out a driver who has already been with the company for 5 years... Shame on them... Shame, Shame, Shame! :biggrin_25513:

    [EDIT]
But you know? Maybe one of these fine days, when all of this corruption backfires and puts some of these big scam artists out of business because no one trusts them or will drive their trucks anymore... Some of us smaller, honest, hard working folks will flourish and prosper like never before in this industry.

I attended orientation in January. I signed the paperwork stating I would team for 6 months then solo drive. I left Saturday and arrived Sunday morning and took my road test, signed some more paperwork. I did everything they asked me to do. Some people including myself will say USX has a very depth detailed back ground check.

When I got sent home it was not out of surprise. I was there five days (Sunday - Thursday) and had not got my drug test results when this happened. What they do is call you into the orientation office and have you pick up the phone and speak to HR. They will ask you to leave the property immediately. They will say you are on your own to get home. That is NOT True. They will pay your fare back.

If you are a potential employee and you get sent home do the following:

    1. Call travel and explain that you are getting sent home and need a ticket to your city.
    2. Have the shuttle take you to Chattanooga TN.
    3. Get the form and have them fill it out stating why you were not hired.
    4. Send it in ASAP.

Your DAC will say something like Quit/Let Go/something from orientation. If you go to a company and they ask what happened when they see the DAC, state you left orientation and did not see a check stating that you were not hired at all.

Touching on the 2008 OP again, I wonder how the "Team, Lease, or Quit" strategy is working for them now?

About how many miles are you making with usxpress,When I was with swift i'd avg. about 2500 to3000 a week. and that was a solo driver.I ate mostly in my truck and ate one hot meal a week. Can't you be a trainer and lease, that way you would make the payment and a little more.Good luck and drive safe

its all a way to ease the pressures of CSA2010. First they get a lot of lease operators, a few months from now they will tell all the lease operators they need to get their own authority and presto, all the csa 2010 falls on the shoulders of the drivers and away fro USExpress. Its not just USX but many of the larger companies

Wow, too much info in such a short time! I was considering working for these guys at one point. I even submitted an online app and everything. Oh well, time to say no to another bad company.

If most of the major truck companies were listed in order from bad to worse as far as who the biggest crooks out there were, I wonder where Useless Express would fall on the list...

My guess is there would be a huge tie for #1.
