I personally think your job opportunities are as plentiful as anybody coming out of school. They'll be better once you get experience. Many major companies are going, or have gone in the direction of automatic transmissions. You'll be hireable by any major company that runs your area. Me personally, I like the autos. It makes driving easier out here. Once you get to Werner, or wherever you get started, try to make it all the way to 1 year with them with a clean record. Then you'll have endless opportunities in the industry if you decide Werner isn't the long term solution.

You wouldn't have anything on Hireright if you are still in trucking school.

Get a big piece of white poster board for 97 cents at Walmart and make columns on it for each year of your life that you have worked:
16. 17. 18. 19. 20
Under each number write the jobs that you worked. It doesnt have to be accurate at first but as you refer to it your nemory will be refreshed and you can continue to add information. It is the story of your life.Twistin' throttles Thanks this. -
I just spoke to someone at werner about orientation and told them that I wasn't entirely sure about when I began certain jobs and when I left them. She said that they give the benefit of the doubt but only time will tell.
I don't want to be disqualified but whatever happens happens, I didn't want to be caught in a lie. I would rather tell them before I get there then get there and be disqualified. -
And now....for some GOOD news: if you somehow "blow it"....with Weiner...I mean, Werner....it's NOT the end of the world.
There are other carriers out there looking for new drivers. Honest.
The lesson here: don't get too emotionally attached to/hung up on....any one particular carrier.
There's simply too much other opportunity out there.

You currently do not have a CDL. What you have is an employment history that shows some instability. Carriers are dealing with this all the time. List what you can and let it go. If you had long periods of unemployment list that. People sometimes keep pushing the myth you MUST be employed to satisfy part 391. YOU DO NOT! You only have to account for the time. When my mom got sick many years ago I took several months off. I had too because nobody else was going to take care of her. I went back to work, accounted for that missing time, and moved on. I understand being nervous. Calm down and finish the process, when it is over you will see you have worried about nothing!Twistin' throttles, silverspur and Opus Thank this.

I know of two separate instances where drivers neglected to list something on their application and they were let go during orientation.
Question: What information did they omit?
Answer; Their murder warrants.Opus Thanks this. -
The only crime I am guilty of is wanting to be hired and make a living trucking.

Here’s my two cents. I was in your shoes until my work history started getting steady from 2015 and on. I started working in at the end of 2003 when I was 16 and had a spotty job history until I was 28 years old. I’m now 36 and I’m on my second job in five years and third in eight years.
Once you hit rock bottom, things can only get better. It might not be what you want, but there are plenty of jobs out there for CDL holders. I just got hired on at a moving company starting at the bottom as a laborer. I am pushing myself each day I work to prove to my bosses that I am worthy of the license I have. Is it going to pay off in the end run; I would like to think so.
